Whats your Car Stereo Presets

A VW has 3 levels and 3 levels of AM

FM 1)
WWRM-----mandatory
WMTX------wanna feel 20 years younger by listening to currents
WPOI-------wanna feel 10 younger
WRBQ--------I actually like it. Closest to old time personality radio
WDUV--------a good sleep aid
WXGL---------why not?

2) WMNF-----mandatory
WUSF------for that famous liberal bias
WQYK-----for driving
WFUS------same
WJQB------MARVELOUS MARV!
WSRZ------the music

3) WLLD-------When my daughter uses the car
WFLZ-------same
95.7--------can't remember the calls, but same as above
96.1---------I really like old school R&B. Wish it was on a real signal
98.3---------Like the music
98.7---------I guess it's not bad. Needs more personality

AM----------since WGUL flipped to talk, don't even bother setting them except for

1150 WTMP
1590 WRXB

Max 98.3 is a "Jack" format station, playing anything from The Beatles followed by Justin Timberlake.
Their automation system has over 3,000 songs!
I like it, too. Too bad I can only pick them up from Orlando sometimes, because of Jose 98.1 here.

Presets? I have a slide-rule tuner without the five buttons below the dial........ ;D

They have tried. They cant move any closer to Tampa because of 97.9.

Under current FCC FM short-spacing and minimum seperation rules, neither of the Hall stations can move any closer to Tampa Bay due to second adjancent channel protection requirements. WWRZ 98.3 C2 is protecting WXTB 97.9 C and WSJT 98.7 C2 while WPCV 97.5 C0 is protecting WSUN 97.1 C2 and WXTB 97.9 C. Additionally WWRZ is "Maxed" out as a class C2 and cannot upgrade to a class C1, C0 or full C unless there is a frequency shuffle involving another station downgrading its class. In addition to the Tampa stations, WWRZ is also protecting first adjacent WDEO 98.5 C3 San Carlos Park (Fort Myers), WNUE 98.1 C2 Deltona (Orlando) and co-channel WRTO 98.3 C Goulds (Miami).

WPCV potentially can cover Orlando with a 70dBu (city grade) signal; However, WWRZ is basically just barely a Lakeland / Winter Haven radio station which in itself is a vast improvement considering 98.3 was originally a class A FM licensed to and serving Arcadia prior to 1996. The COL change from Arcadia to Fort Meade enabled Hall Communications to move the WWRZ tower much closer to Lakeland providing city grade coverage over the Lakeland / Winter Haven metro, creating a Top 100 market radio station from a previous small unrated market facility.

The whole argument of signal misses evolution. But then so does so many others.
From Algore and his hypocrisy of internal combustion engines to a New Yorker moving
to Florida and wondering why there isn’t better mass transportation. Radio is not
immune.

Up until several years ago, we had FM Class A, B, & C. There was none of this onesyes
or twosyes crap. You had a Class A 3kw@300’, Class B 50kw@500’, or Class C
100kw@2000’, or the equivalent.

Then Press Broadcasting in New Jersey decided to raise their (then) 94.3 signal to 450’ in
Neptune following a similar increase to neighboring (and then competing) 107.1 in
nearby downtown Long Branch.

They needed to drop their power from 3kw to 1900 watts as a result of the height
increase. They petitioned the FCC for 6000watts so they could get the 3kw back once the
height was increased.

Ironically enough, it did not help them because by the time it was approved, they had sold
Class A 94.3 and purchased Class B 101.5. Then the FCC opened the ownership
floodgates and things have not been the same since.

FM2-
93.7- Listen to this one when I want Country. Or as my Ocala/ Gville station
92.9- Plays Classic Hits from 70s and 80s. Listen when in Ocala
100.7- Station I listen to this when 95.3 is in sports or In Tampa/ Lakeland.
But wanted something a little more energetic than AC 98.5 KTK.
Sounds better than Magic and has good musical variety.
Station has a weak signal so I don't listen often however.
Hence why its on FM-2.
105.9- Another CBS Classic Hits station. Don't listen a lot though. Weak signal.
Has some good music but not enough 60's to be called "Sunny FM."
Sounds very sterile and VT'ed.
101.5- Listen when I want 80's music. May listen when driving down towards
Tampa, Lakeland and the Pasco Area.
97.9- My friend likes this station.

Magic 94.9 has been sounding better musically so I will put that in place of "Mix 100.7" as part of my 2 defacto stations when in Tampa. Then Mix will occupy 101.5. Besides been listening today and WWRM is playing a lot of "The Points" playlist, and More.
