Whats your favorite Raleigh station?

What is your favorite radio station in raleigh? Im going to have to say that mine at the moment is 96.1 "96Rock" Evereything That Rocks. They play a good mix of new rock and Classic Rock with 80's hair bands mixed in. I think they are leaning more towards classic rock. They have been around for 9 years. They should be a Classic Rock Station for 106.1's sake because 100.7 the [EDIT] river aint cuttin it. IM OUT PEACE

[EDIT--inflammatory.]

WRDU

What, It's country now? : - (

What the heck is CC thinking?

I haven't been able to listen to RDU for about 10 years now, but who would ever have thought to flip it to country. This is what I hate about Clear Channel.

I still flip through the dial, but I do like the new 93.9 Kiss, although I have friends who hated to see Sunny die, and of course I will miss the all-Christmas format Sunny carried. Hope CC doesn't screw this one up like they did its Greensboro namesake on 105.7...

My favorite [or stations that at least get respect]

88.1: For everyone who complains about lack of diversity, this station'll do it for you. At times they seem to go overboard, but still decent. I would say however that they were better two years ago than they are now. They seem to have dumped a lot of the evening talk shows, and it seems a bit less organized.

91.5: NPR. Daytime talk seems to go on and on, but from 10:00PM-10:00AM I'm hooked.

93.9: Decent station for Raleigh. A lot of repeats, too much for my taste in fact. If they would put in a bit more current dance and get a half-decent morning show, I'd listen more. Still, it might work.

96.1: They get my respect because of their passion. I never listen because I can't stand mixing classic rock with new rock, and I just don't fit the average listener.

101.1: Also a decent triangle station. Morning show is very decent, If a bit dull.

101.5: They earn my respect because they know how to be a true local radio station when they need to be. Morning show sucks, though.

105.1: Probably the best CC station around. Everything just adds up to a solid station. When you have live jocks on Christmas night and you're owned by CC, you're sounding great.

680 is also good.

This is a very good question! Most stations have something to offer (except G105, which has that moron Bob, and his stupid child antics!!!). I listen to mostly XM radio. However there are some shows I enjoy on local radio:

680 WPTF: Rush Limbaugh, Clark Howard
101.5 WRAL: 6:00 Live TV feed from Channel 5 News (also if one likes hearing the same song 3 times an hour)
102.9 WWMY: Good variety of 60's and 70's music

I do think 100.7 WRVA "The New River" is much better than it was now that 106.1 WRDU plays Country.

im a urban lover at heart...

WQOK is the worst programmed station in the triangle. period. and they have been that way since I was a lil kid...so...prolly the past 17 (im older than 17) years i've been listening to them they were always poorly programmed....WJMH in greensboro with its very poor to non existent signal in raleigh eats at them in the arbitron every book.

my favorites in raleigh are G105 and WZTK, I really like the new Kiss 93.9, really interesting format right there...

105.7 in greensboro...well...it will take some work to dethrone 97.1

WPTF: Lu May! Even my wife, who was a big music listener is stuck on Lu May
WMAG HD-2
WRAL HD-2
WSKA HD and analog
The river (mainly on weekends)
WQDR once and a RARE while

I like

850 The Buzz,
They get into minutiae on stats and players sometimes but they're local and it's not the same songs every hour

96Rock,
They're also local and they play a fair mix of newer and classic, but if it leans too far classic I'll have to rethink it

Q98,
I know they're not "Raleigh" but they're close, they sound pretty live and play more than one format/tempo/era of music (though not a "Mix" thanks) and also no one's going to ask "What's your favorite Fayetteville station?" ;)

and Rock 103,
they tend to mix in more songs that aren't ones you hear every day for 20 years, so they would probably be higher than 96Rock if they were actually in "Raleigh."

I have to agree on Q98. They sound great for their size. Though they're far from perfect, their blend of music can pass for a decent hot/modern AC. Also, talent isn't bad at all, and that's unusual. All in all, I'd say they're definitely above average.
