WHBC-AM Classy Right here, Classy Right Now.

I had an opportunity to listen to "The New" 1480 WHBC this week.

WOW.

It appears someone in Denver said "we've aired no imaging for 10 years try to make it up in a single quarter hour".

The afternoon show is interesting. The host seems to be in love with his own name. He's announced it 47 times since the top of the hour and it's only :10 after and the news ended at :06.

Just before 4pm the sports guy (the one with a noticable lisp of some sort) was talking with the afternoon host, who's name I've forgotten. They discussed online dating sites. The sports guy then read from womens ads online. He read aloud: "I like it hard and fast, Sex should be dangerous, almost scary, like something bad will happen". They then did a live promo for coverage of the verdict of the murder trial of Bobby Cutts, the case where a young woman was killed.

Classy.

NextMedia wants both stations to have ''an edge''..that was mandated from Denver months ago..

What Denver wanted, more then anything, was the oldest portion of the demo..those 55 and over..gone..and to an extent they got their wish..

What's in Denver? I thought the head of radio lives in New York. Why not give our hometown stations some credit? In their attempt to be true local broadcaster's, I for one was glad I could tune to either of NextMedia's stations yesterday and hear the Cutts verdict live!

I also have noticed that all the "so-called" big companies have released a lot of employees over the past few weeks. I did not read where people lost their jobs at WHBC for cost cutting reasons. That sounds pretty classy to me. Poor John and Truth sound like ex-employees with an ax to grind!
