WHBC...Christmas Songs out da' Yin Yang...

Does anybody know who/what decided the drastic format change?...I could understand 1 or 2 XMas songs right now (and more per hour of course as we get closer to XMas), but hours & hours of Holiday music on Nov. 28th? ???

I'm told NextMedia made the call while they make up their mind how the future formats will shake out on both stations when the calender flips to January..

The reason for the all Christmas so early.........like Alan said.....er....speaker of truth said........its easy to do. It doesn't give away your intentions and it buys them(Nextmedia)time to get a new PD/morning show in place and to make the necessary adjustments to start fresh in January.

And let's not dismiss another obvious factor...WFHM and WDOK have both flipped to Christmas music. Granted these two are Cleveland stations, their presence further south is strong. Plus, HBC's demo loves this stuff.

Tom...You would fit well in the morning slot. If not you, how about bringing back Jim Harrington?. Who else is interested?

Would I be crazy to give up a successful law practice to do morning (or any) radio in Canton?

Nannymuss,

Thank you so very much for the compliment! They would never hire me back at HBC-FM........one word......money. I know what they pay and you can barely get along with that kind of money. I own my own business now and make far more money. Besides, look for a complete gutting of that place before its sold. They are dumping salaries as fast as possible. I've already heard from two different sources (both reliable) that Nextmedia has turned down 25 and 28 million respectively for the properties. At this rate, there will be 10 people left in the building to run it!

Jim Harrington? Wasn't he the guy who commuted in from Pittsburgh to do the AM side? If he was, no thanks. The Pittsburgh love fest between him and Pam Cook was nauseating enough the first time around.
