WHBC-FM New PD?

Wait, I always thought Baylor was Stewart's Nom de keyboard. Now I'm confused.

What station were you on as Tom Rivers?

Back to the new PD rumor, on the one hand, its good they might be getting someone from the area. On the other hand, I'm hoping they're trying too hard to be a Q92 clone. What Mix 94.1 needs to do is to be different than Q92 and My 101.7. They should try and do something is not done in Canton. At least they should be happy WKDD is not doing too well in Canton. Heck, that station is not doing too well in Akron.

It doesn't matter to Clear Channel how WKDD does in Canton or Akron--what WKDD has been targeting is the suburbs--Jackson Township, Green, and other locations..they'll throw up billboards in Akron and Canton, but the real work is getting the upscale suburban mom to listen..as far as urban areas like Akron and Canton, they're on life support..

If you wanted to do "something different" with WHBC-FM..put the talk format currently on the AM on that signal, flip the AM to all sports on the bird, and cut costs by whatever means necessary..why NextMedia has not done that yet is a mystery..

"Cut costs"? Based on recent history, I'd say NextMedia has practically gutted both of their stations in Canton. What cost-cutting can be done now that wouldn't further erode the quality of the product?
Switching the FM to news/talk may be a good idea, but I'm not sure that it's much of a strategy under NextMedia's ownership. One must ultimately spend money to make money. The current regime apparently can't or won't do that.

I think WHBC-FM should remain in their current format. It helps with Canton to have an older option for those who are not into WDJQ. Speaking of WHBC-FM, I noticed Angela, formerly of WKDD, is currently filling-in on afternoons until whoever is the PD comes in. She's pretty good, and I believe she has a following in both Akron and Canton. A lot of listeners were upset when she was let go by WKDD, and some were even vocal about it. I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up on mornings on Mix. Don't know what they should do with Kathy Vogel, who I like, but I hear her show is not doing all that great in the ratings.

NextMedia: All the evil of clear channel, none of the brains. (Not saying CC has much brains but NM has ... none.)

Any updates on their new PD, if they're even going to bring in one. This is the longest Mix has gone without a programmer/afternoon host.

Kayleigh Kriss has been named PD.

Since when? And what happened with the rumored former or current WDLQ staffer? Also, is Angela staying as afternoon host?

Congrats to Kayleigh. She's a great host and a mainstay at the station. She should have gotten it instead of having to go through three short-lived PDs. I wish her lots of luck. Is she also still the MD?

My sales rep ( I work as an ad buyer for NEO media) told me kayleigh was the PD. Since my rep is my only contact there, I would assume he wasn't lying. Kayleigh is an absolute sweethart, and represents the station well and has been the face of Mix. Most consider her to be the rock of the place despite all the changes in the past few years.

Given that every other timeslot has been in flux in recent years, Kayleigh would be the only logical in-house choice for PD. In any case, I will second H Anthony Wayne's comment by saying that she is definitely *not* the new PD for Mix. Furthermore, there's no indication yet that NextMedia has made a selection.

It appears that WHBC-FM has hired a new PD...and it's not Tim Richards or anyone from WDJQ.

According to All Access, Mix 94.1 has hired Shawn Powers for the role. He comes from WWCK in Flint, Michigan.

Good luck to the new PD!
