I'm also glad to hear Bruno back on the air. Kinda like the shot he takes
at DAE on one of the promo vignettes ("The Animal is dead..."). Some obser-
vations I have to make, however.
1) While WHBO is attempting to make a serious run at the Animal, I do have to
question how viable such a run can be considering the advertising pull the
Animal rakes in through CC, not to mention WHBO's rather weak signal (anywhere
east of downtown Tampa, good luck picking up a strong signal).
2) While Tony Bruno is wildly popular among sports radio listeners, he's sure
done some bouncing around lately. From ESPN to DAE to Fox Sports Radio to
Sporting News Radio. All in a span of six years.
3) WHBO has no weekday local hosts (you can't really count Terry Bowden and
Daniel Dobb[sp?], they simulcast their show from Orlando to both here and
Cocoa Beach).
4) Local sports radio is dying. Been that way since Mr. Christian Thomas
Olrick (God rest his soul) left us. I barely listen to the Animal anymore.
Dan Sileo as well as Ron and Ian are the primary reasons. In fact, I think
the two best sports talk hosts in this region aren't working right now (at
least that I know of)... Todd Wright and the Fabulous Sports Babe.
