WHBQ Rewind?

I would be diggin' it if someone did!

It have been suggested by alumni of the 76-80 Q Crew several times. Trouble is who would organize it? Next, would the owners of WHBQ go fo it? I too would be in favor. Seems to me that someone at the station should be the instigator, but, there is no one left. No heritage there. They don't even update their history section of their web site.

I think if someone approached Dr. Flynn about the idea, he'd go for it. You might have to wait until after baseball season because they're contracturally obligated to the Redbirds and they play every weekend and ther'd be Ole Miss Football on Saturday in the fall, but you might find a Sunday you could do it. Dr. Flynn would love the kind of noteriety that it would bring to WHBQ.....something it severely lacks curretly.

I would guess he would as well.

I think it's a great idea. I'd sure listen. I wish someone would also start a Memphis radio history Web site. There are a ton of great photos around...

Note to WRVR folks: Take some pics of your control room before you move...

1 thing - as I learned the hard way, spell his name correctly or you won't get far with him. "Flinn". Just an F.Y.I.

I'm on the phone with Dr. Flinn as I write this, talking about some other radio business. I'll bring it up to him!

Yes, will someone PLEASE start a Memphis radio history web site. Some of us are 32 years old, only been in the area for 8 years, and would love to see what would be on a site like that!

I stand corrected....Dr. Flinn....(I never worked for him)

Until someone does do the Memphis Radio tribute site, please check out oidar.com... You will find John Long's excellent chronicle about his journey in radio, including several chapters on his time at WHBQ, one of the great eras of that station's history. Plus, John has added a section of photos submitted by the Q-crew alumni.
