WHDH 7.2 no longer weather.

As of yesterday, WHDH discontinued it's weather service on it's 7.2 subchannel, opting to simulcast the main stream, albeit in a lower definition. I wonder if they have other plans for the 7.2 sub, or will they go like Channels 5 or 56 in not offering a secondary service after having one in the past. I do know that MGM/Weigel Broadcasting's "This TV" is making plans with several companies to air their classic TV format on the subs of stations in many major markets. Hopefully, Boston is one of those markets. The current TV climate is just right for this due to the analog sunset scheduled for next month. There are plenty of subchannels available now.

I kinda wish they'd shut off 7.2 and see just how much better the HD would look. 7.1's HD is almost as bad as cable HD.

At last check, WVIT-DT (NBC) channel 35 of New Britain/Hartford has NBC Weather Plus (in name only) on 30-2 and Universal Sports on 30-3.

As of earlier this evening WLBZ2 Bangor is still carrying NBC WeatherPlus onTime Warner Digital Cable.

I saw Weather Plus on Channel 30.2 this morning though they were running some weird E/I program called Critter Gitters. The Weather Forecast was still show at the bottom and left side of the screen.

Also Channel 3.3 was showing an incredibly lame E/I program called Katy D's Clubhouse or something like that. Weird and Lame.

Interesting! The NBC affiliate out here where I live also went to ThisTV. So far, I've seen them run a bunch of abstract movies and not a stitch of advertising. Unless there is some kind of local affiliate approach, This is just not going to work. It reminds me of the Tube, only with movies.

10.2 is off the air. Will WJAR put RTN on 10.2?

WJAR's WeatherPlus is back on-air, albeit with no sound. WJAR will, apparently, program RTN on the signal. (http://www.turnto10.com/jar/online/rtn).

IT'S ABOUT TIME! ;D

More than likely, they kept the Weather Plus slide up and running to keep a spot on Comcast's digital tier. WJAR 10.2 is on most of the systems south of Boston. It has been nearly a year since WJAR (Media General) announced that RTN is going to be on WJAR's DTV subchannels. With that in mind, I took the time to set up a decent antenna and a decoder to get RTN/10.2 for the bedroom set...... back in April of last year. Well, better late than never. Now we wait!

WHDH is probably doing the same thing that WJAR is doing by keeping "something" on their 7.2 just to keep the light on for Comcast's carriage. Right now the 7.2 is a simulcast of the main channel, albeit a lower resolution.

RTN is coming back up in pieces. Every affiliate showed the red slide at 5AM, by this time I hear Detroit, Phoenix, Austin, Des Moines, and Atlanta are all operational again. RTN is not dead.

Verizon FiOS is now listing the channel as RTN, complete w/ programming (Emergency, Kojak, Dragnet, Rockford Files, etc.) though the feed itself is (at least for now) the same as the main channel.

The over-the-air HD guide also lists the main channel shows.

NBC-Uni now owns the Weather Channel (as a matter of face, they had WC's Jim Cantore on as a
sidelines reporter Jan 1 at NBC's outdoor NHL game). Wonder if they'd consider putting WC on Ch 7.2?
Not everyone has cable, but those with new TVs or converter boxes could then get the the Weather
Channel. Who knows...

Unfortunately, the answer will be 'No.' TWC is cable only, and I've heard that may be contractural. So, for multicast DTV it's AccuWeather or something else the station can scrape up.

Here in Western Washington our NBC outlet (KING) took Universal Sports.
