WHDH layoffs

Why are you saying layoffs? Every person leaving that I've read, including the one you cited, was someone leaving voluntarily for another job. WHDH has a lot of open positions. I haven't seen a word about layoffs.

True. There are articles out there about people working very long hours and extra days to cover all of the newscasts.

But on the bright side for WHDH, their ratings haven't fallen since losing NBC. They're number one or number two in every slot

On the contrary, WHDH's ratings have slipped quite substantially post-NBC, with WBZ making significant gains. WBTS remains a non-factor; in fact, for some time slots their ratings are too low to measure. WFXT continues to struggle as well. Perhaps with the sell-off of the WLVI spectrum Ansin will build up his slate of syndicated programming on WHDH to create better lead-ins for his newscasts.

It's true that WHDH's 25-54 ratings dropped significantly from January 2016 to January 2017. But so did almost every other station.

WCVB dropped signifcantly in many time periods.

WBZ gained a little at 5A, 6A, and 11P, but not nearly as much as the others dropped.

WHDH remained #1 at Noon, 4PM, essentially tied at 5 PM and 11 PM in the demo and #2 in every other time period where they compete with other newscasts.

NBC Boston, as you'd expect, didn't have great numbers, although they did have 13,575 viewers at 11 PM--roughly equal to WHDH's drop.
