WHDH-TV to air July 4th Boston Pops

[h=1]7News partners with Bloomberg TV to air 2018 Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular[/h]“We’re excited to air this iconic holiday tradition so you can join the party without ever leaving home,” said station owner Ed Ansin. “We are delighted to be working with Bloomberg and the Boston Symphony in order to bring the concert to all of our viewers.”

National coverage varied over the years, but local coverage was traditional, until the Bloomberg-only deal. There were a few reports that some Pops supporters were not happy. Probably not just because of the lack of over-the-air TV, but also missing local color in the reporting. It's a good move for Ed Ansin.

Thank god! It’s on a channel that people actually watch. And I just discovered that Verizon FiOS doesn’t have Bloomberg TV. Yikes!

I guess I'm a bit surprised that this event is not being carried by WGBH / WGBX.

You would think that this sort of event would have their audience eating this up like apple slices and brie at a cocktail party;)

In recent years IMHO, Capitol Fourth on PBS has been a much better show than the Pops in Boston. Capitol Fourth gets some really big name performers that people love (had the Beach Boys last year) and the production value is higher. Even the fireworks display is better.
