Wheatstone / AudioArts A-50 Analog Console

Does anyone have any familiarity with this model and know of any 'sonic upgrades' that I could incorporate in this console? Uses 5532's throughout with back-to-back polarized electrolytics in the audio path in some sections.

Thank you

There is nothing wrong with 5532's if the circuit is properly designed. I would just replace the electrolytics and leave the board alone.

Auditronics used some low-noise, low slew rate chips in the 2500 series (one of their last boards before they were bought by Wheatstone), which were pin for pin compatible with the TLO series; there may be a similar chip out there that could be substituted for the 5532, but I have never researched the issue.

This thread reminds me of the Arrakis consoles I once worked on. Their opamp circuits using 5532's were a terrible design.
