WHEL sold

All Access reports that WHEL-105.1 in Helen has been sold from Radio Seoul Georgia to Sorenson Southeast Radio. Of course, Clear Channel owned this station not too long ago. Apparently, the Radio Seoul Georgia management must have realized they weren't getting anywhere with WHEL, so they decided to sell the station.

Does anybody know what will happen to WHEL? Best-case scenario would be for the new owners to focus on the Northeast Georgia mountains. Any thoughts?
Edited by radionut987 on 02/02/06 06:35 AM.

We'll be operating the station with an LMA to purchase and the days of WHEL simulcasting an Atlanta station are over. We will focus on White, Habersham and Hall counties where the station places a 60 dbu signal. The station has been taken dark until we close.

Do you have a format in mind for WHEL?
Edited by radionut987 on 02/03/06 01:33 AM.

Sure you can. You can always go home, you can go crazy, you can go to hell, you can just go to be gone, you can go to the Midnight Madness Sale at Minkovitz in Uptown Statesboro, you can go far, far, far (really far, man) away, or, you can go to Helena, Montana, you Rotterdamn son. Pitch me off the roof on a mule. Ask my mother if you don't believe me (say that one really fast, slurring appropriately).

Yep...you can go.

Good luck on the latest acquisition

You may not have been to Helen. All the building facades are down in a German theme so it looks like a Bavarian village.

Of course I am not serious about this as a format but I don't intend to reveal our programming plans on a radio board..either.
