When are JV & Elvis coming back?

Anyone have any idea when their "dumb-ass" suspension is done? This has been a pretty dead couple of weeks with O&A on vacation and the Doghouse suspended..

I am betting that CBS isn't going to make an announcement, but they will just reappear on the air after everyone forgets about it.

They're not it looks like...for a while...Unbelievable I might add...just plain ridiculous:

[From the 92.3 website:

As reported in the news media: The OCA met with CBS to decide the fate of JV and Elvis in NYC today.

The outcome?

- JV & Elvis are still suspended INDEFINITELY.
- Next week there will be guest hosts from 9AM-Noon.

And that's all she wrote... for now...]

WEll, reading between the lines: Best of taken off air in favor of "guests hosts"?

Don't look for their return.

Doghouse: R.I.P

And the word on the Guest Host>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>..DLR....that is funny

David Lee Roth??

Don't get me wrong here, because I love the mystique that surrounds him... loved his bit part in the Sopranos too. Think he'd be awesome as a Disc Jockey, and heard an excerpt from his talk show that was amusing... but he was no ratings getter from the time he actually had his own show.

Maybe it's just horribly tough to be Stern's replacement, but does CBS have a soft spot in their hearts for him? Or do they really have no other choice, and he's always willing to ham up?

Is he really worth putting back on the air? I guess he is "just a fill-in" but wow.

I'm hoping for an all-new format...
;D SNOB RADIO ;D

Uhhhhhhh I think you're confused, someone mentioned it followed by the words "That'd be funny". DLR is not coing back to guest host or anything of the sort.

::)

If CBS pulled their head out of their collective asses, they'd realize that their answer is sitting there rotting away in the 6-9pm slot. Look at the winter numbers. Nights were the only spot with ratings. Ron & Fez should have put in that spot from the get go. As for JV and Elvis...I've never seen a more horrible show get as many posts as they do. It's like listening to a college radio show. Occasionally funny, but for the most part, how can anyone sit and listen to them talk all over eachother and fight for mic time?

I know O&A haven't been holding their own end, but maybe Ron & Fen could help sure up the last hour of morning drive for Free FM. If they don't..."It's over Johnny!"

You're high, they would have their heads up their collective arses IF they did exactly what you're suggesting and they just might being short sided and seeing a show that got ratings and thinking "HEY HERE's AN INSTANT FIX" just like they thought O and A would be which has turned out to be nothing near it. Here's reality: Ron and Fez have had ONE, REPEATING AGAIN FOR THE CHEAP SEATS; ONE good book, which I maintain is more fluke than gospel. More importantly, Ron and Fez as a show works BECAUSE it is on at night, it is NOT, repeat NOT a morning drive show, I think even less of a mid day show not mass appeal it's a weird niche show. If you were to sit down and try to describe the show to someone how would you do it? you cannot even put their schtick into words, and while that may make it somewhat unique, that also makes it INCOMPATIBLE for morning drive where you need to appeal to the broadest cross section of your audience possible, as morning drive may be the one time during the entire day where you have more than just your hardcore P1's listening. THey make perfect sense where they are, nights, not mid days, notmorning or afternoon drive, they fit well at night.

How right you are Tower. I have always liked them, especially when they first came to WNEW, but I think the better slot for them is 10pm to 2am. You have alot of weird folks up at that hour and they really seemed to do well with weirdo's, freaks, and internet type individuals. Not morning, not mid-day, just an awesome alternative for late night programming. Who say's there needs to be heavy talk on this station anyway? Match the music to the hosts and you have a real alternative. Let them talk about irrelevant topics, or even some popular topics, but let the music support it. I say O&A mornings, someone who can spin some good tunes and keep things flowing in the mid-day, perhaps someone like "Booker" in PM Drive, music and a disc jockey from 7-10 then Ron and Fez. Make sense Dan Mason?

Ron and Fez are great at what they do no question and ther is nothing wrong with appealing to the "freaks and misfits" of a generation. That is a very unique skill in and of itself.

"Rotting away"? What in the WORLD are you talking about? R&F have been in that slot for LESS THAN SIX MONTHS, after almost two months of teases they might be going over there.

With O&A and R&F, They are not going to cannibalize the crossover audience that each other's shows has by putting R&F on FREE directly vs. O&A's XM show.

Secondly, it may be an internal creative decision to keep R&F in the night time slot, because of how good the callers and the "vibe" of the nighttime show is.

The Daytime XM show had a LOT of issues with getting the callers "trained" for a while. The nighttime Free show had no such problem, it was almost like it was early 2002 again.

Third, you'd be asking R&F to do six STRAIGHT hours of radio. O&A do five, five and a half if they have a good guest. There's no way that R&F would get as good as guests as O&A's show because of the daypart.

As someone who has been a historian of the show, it was always strongest when it was 7-11. It struck just the right balance between "normal" and "out there".
