When did Classic Soul become Classic Rock?

I have been out of town on business for the last few day, but when I first turned on 105.9 The Rock as I drove back into Nashville, the first song I heard was "Me and Mrs. Jones"- Billy Paul. When I tuned in, it was half way through the song, so my first thought was 105.9 had changed formats. Then a station ID with John Boy & Billy about 105.9 being your home for Classic Rock in Nashville, followed by a Loverboy song. Since when is a soul classic, like "Me and Mrs. Jones", considered "Classic Rock"? What's next, "Midnight Train to Georgia"- Gladys Knight & the Pips, followed by "He Stopped Loving Her Today"- George Jones, followed by "For Whom The Bell Tolls"- Metallica?
Edited by jwk1979 on 12/08/05 09:57 PM.
