When did George Noory become a redneck

With KTLK taking off Phil Hendrie, I ventured over to a few other stations before I gave up on overnight radio.

KABC is a complete loss with the two redneck inbreds who talk with synthetic indignation but have no talent beyond selling motor oil to survivalists.

So I went over to George Noory hoping to hear about "Martian anal probes" as Bill Handel fondly describes his show. But to my surprise the guy has become a redneck nut as well. I had read that he had been criticized for letting wild unsubstantiated claims fly on his show without him catching them, but now he seems to be actively courting these nuts. On the few occasions I tuned in he was talking to idiots who thought that our government was evil and that it was time to bring out the guns and call for a revolution on the streets. Shockingly Noory not only would let a stupid comment like that fly but he agreed with it. Thinking it was just a one time phenomenon and maybe Noory was lightheaded from the fumes of that pitch black hair dye that he uses, I tuned in a few other times and once again the anti-government nuts were dominating his show not as callers but the guests and Noory went right along with them.

I think it's time to bring back Art Bell. This clown has made a mess out his show.

Anti-government nuts come in all flavors, not just redneck. I'm thinking here of the OWS crowd, they've got plenty of nutters calling for armed revolution against the government (because they believe the government is beholden to the eeeeeevil corporations).

It was a great show when Art Bell had it it time to bring him back quick!!

I agree that Art was a heck of a lot better. Locally it is on KLEE in town and WHO from Des Moines. But I believe that Art is in the Philippines to stay. I believe he sold his Pahrump "estate" and has moved there permanently. They did have him on weekends but I guess getting a broadcast from there is a bit dicey. But his reruns are on as "Back In Time" or some such but no one here (S.E. Iowa) is airing it. In any event Art's reruns are better than George live and no one would notice the dating I bet.

Very likely Coast To Coast has reverted to sensationalist nonsense for the same reason that others have. It grabs an audience.

Coast To Coast AM has become an irresponsible jumble of lies and tall tales; UFOs and Bigfoot are one thing, but on a nightly basis a succession of quacks and researchers give the most idiotic medical advice and bogus claims, none of which are challenged by Noory.

Noory has become a more pathetic version of Hank Kingsley from The Larry Sanders Show.

What a joke!

"Hey Now!"

The First Amendment is a double edged sword: Not only does it allow you to speak your mind, but it allows others to express who they are and what they are all about.

I don't see the difference, really. If you're implying that listeners take this advice seriously and are harmed by it, well I'm sure there are some people who have died trying to find Bigfoot in the Pacific Northwest. Stupid people deserve what they get for not using basic common sense.

I guess the line is how the topic is presented. I have heard some "experts" on radio who are quite blatantly selling their snake oil. Infomercials are one thing and we have all heard them and most of us know what is happening. But when they are a part of an entertainment program, and I'm just not talking about Noory, then it is getting into dangerous territory.

Bu then what you said at the end is true and as someone once wisely stated "you can't fix stupid".

I just think the show should air a basic disclaimer, that's all -- that the views expressed are solely those of the guests. Oh, and that George Noory is an idiot.

Does the phrase "laughing all the way to the bank" ring a bell? He's not my cup of tea, but he is still making a living in an industry that has seen many of its self-anointed geniuses become has beens.

Actually, because it's part of an entertainment program that should be all the more reason people shouldn't take it seriously. Even if you've never heard of C2C, once you've heard it you should get that it's just a silly show, and if you don't get that then as you said there's no fixing that.

Very true, very true.

Guess I'll join the vast majority of modern Americans and just turn off the radio for good. That's why most vehicles have CD players.

Goodbye, countless conservative and sports talkers, prostate ads and unfunny morning DJ's. Never again will I be asked to like a station or personality on Facebook.
