When did KENS-DTV move to Channel 39?

I thought that was not going to happen until 2009. I did a re-scan on my digital receiver and KENS ended up on Channel 39 now. So does this mean KWEX has no DTV signal until 2009?

Apparently, the way the paperwork has been filed with the FCC, KENS-DT has taken over the channel 39 equipment that was formerly KWEX-DT's (whose license is now silent). The FCC is going along with it since the KWEX programming is available on subchannels of KENS-DT for the time being.

This is a temporary arrangement to allow Qualcomm to start their MediaFLO service on channel 55. Next year, once the analogs are gone, KENS and WOAI will be building out a new antenna in place of their analog antennas and the channel 39 signal will get a lot stronger.

Next year, KLRN-DT moves from 8 to 9 and boosts power somewhat. They're limited in how much they can increase their power due to KCEN-DT 9 in Temple being so close.

KLRN complained bitterly about their poor signal in their last FCC filing but didn't seem to have any remedies in mind for the situation.
