When did KJOY become so hip?

Was KJOY always more hot less AC? Some songs via Mediabase that I'd never expect to hear on KJOY:
TAIO CRUZ Dynamite
LA ROUX Bulletproof
TAIO CRUZ Break Your Heart
USHER F/PITBULL DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love

I heard Taio Cruz. None of the others.

God, I remember when this was "Joy" 98. Beautiful Music.

Seems to me that I recall that a few years ago they made a changeover. Since then I have not listened to them. That has been a good while ago.

Fair to say, these aren't your father's "Lite" stations anymore.

Then again, those "Lite" songs seem to go well with the drive up I-75 from Tampa to Dade City.
Easy lite songs on the fast paced LIE really don't go well together this day in age. Just a mindset thing for me I guess.

I think Need You Now would fit in with the traditional adult contemporary sound. But on the other hand, they've been playing the new Lady Gaga lately. Even by today's loose standards for adult contemporary I think that's a stretch. I don't know how many other adult contemporary stations are playing it.

Then again, it's been the top station I hear in offices/stores throughout Nassau for years, so they're still doing something right.
