In those days(70's- Early 90's) the affiliates had alot more say with how they handled their schedules, it wasnt until most recently(Middle-Late 90's) when networks decided to step up and made their affilates take network programming or lose their affiliation. This is also the same time when most local TV stations also began to run 24/7, instead of signing off, as they fit in syndicated blocks of programming at odd hours.
I remember when KXAS moved "The Childrens Hour" over to saturday mornings and it cut into the first two seasons of "Saved By The Bell", soon after they called it a day on TCH and network programming won out. WFAA still pulls this BS it with the ABC Sat. morning programming block by running their 90 min newscast on sat mornings plus La Vida or Hot On Homes that noone watches, why network hasnt jumped down their throat and enforced their must carry clause is beyond me..im curious if the other Belo stations are getting away with it??
