When Disc Jockeys give out bad information

Isn't it pathetic when disc jockeys put their foot in mouth? One D.J. at WZLX allegedly picked up a Beatles album and said "Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, Starkey...Who is this Starkey guy?" She wasn't joking. Nik Carter, formerly of WBCN, said on this very board that someone else wrote "Satisfaction". The exact title, of course, is "(I Can't Get No)Satisfaction" Here's what the [EDIT*] radio personality [EDIT**]said:NIK CARTER:Dont question me about radio Joe, or what I listen to, I know more about this subject than any cable access clown will ever know. Then again you also thought Mick Jagger wrote "satisfaction" which you posted here as well............credible rock journalist?................. Learn to post facts and not your opinions passed off as fact. Dont respond, you'll only look more retarded.==============================================================================Mr. Carter also put his foot in his mouth regarding the great Wilbert Harrison's "Kansas City" - a song covered by The Beatles. Heck, while I was driving Alvin Lee from TEN YEARS AFTER from station to station one jock said "What was it like playing with John Mayall?" Alvin, of course, never played with John Mayall - but these are the individuals attempting to inform the public - only proving they are not qualified for the gig.Nik Carter could only get hired if he was being used by someone with an ulterior motive. This is an important topic - you have EXCELLENT jocks on WMBR, WERS, chock full of knowledge. The show Eli Polonski did onWMBR which Alex hosts - both of them know their stuff. When Nik Carter wants to venture into my territory and tell the world that Mick Jagger/Keith Richards did NOTwrite Satisfaction, you know, we could file a class action suit against WBCN for forcing his horrible voice and stupidity on the airwaves for so long.We did not vote Nik Carter in. Oedipus did. The public did not have a huge outcry when Nik Carter was fired.Stay in New York - it is clear Nik gets hired because someone feels sorry for him.[EDIT***]Disc jockeys who don't have their facts should not even get hired. What's Nik going to do for his next career, [EDIT****]?ROLLING STONES HOT ROCKShttp://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:wnd9kezt7q7cRichie Unterberger review:http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=33:yiazqokeojsaThe chorus then turns into a stream-of-consciousness catalog of complaints about the irritations of modern life, touring, the media ... (or the lack of Media in Boston)[EDIT*=inflamatory, EDIT**=inflamatory,EDIT***=inflamatory, EDIT****=inflamatory]

So what did Otis Redding do then?.........Joe, [EDIT*]: Seriously, this is not funny anymore,[EDIT**]. [EDIT***][EDIT*=inflamatory, EDIT**=inflamatory, EDIT***=inflamatory]

Joe, You have never met me - and neither has Nik. I have never been in radio, and probably never will be. I'm a fan of good radio though, and am a professional musician, producer and engineer - much like you are. The closest I've been to radio is in interviews (for my music) and on Radio Free Cambridge on occasion, and again, that was more for my music than anything else. I am not a fan of Nik, never really was - but I do have some respect for him. He served in Boston Radio for a number of years on the top rated rock station in Boston, and still is on the radio broadcasting - which is more than anyone can say for you. Point is, I have been on this board for over a year now, and there hasn't been one post in that year where you haven't attacked someone or have given any good information on any subject. You a [*****] Joe, and just like the attention that you get. You can give opinions on this board without resorting to personal attacks - but you choose not to. Hell, you attack me when you don't even know who I am. Oh, and when someone who is accused of sexual misconduct with a minor and PLEADS GUILTY to it and serves time - that makes them a pedophile Joe! They (by State law) have to register as a SEX OFFENDER for the rest of their lives! Mark had a great radio career - and I was a big fan of him when he was on BCN - but his personal decisions were disgusting and horribly wrong - Facts are Facts Joe!.You have been reported to the Moderator for personal attacks, and I will continue to report you until one (or both) of us are banned. Roach[EDIT*=name calling]

My opinion is just that. I stand by it. Disc Jockeys who really care about their audiences should know the subject matter. Disc Jockeys should be supporting local talent, not challenging people to let anyone with an internet pseudonym attack one man's music. If you feel that is supportive of local music, then there is no conversation - you're just making noise.

Get your head out of the sand, wake up it's 2006!.

That is complete BS, the subject matter that any disc jockey in 2006 talks about does not include "Kansas city" Wilburt, Ten Years after, etc. Even Oldies adn Classic Rock station's do not even play those artists with any real frequency so the idea that becasue someone is not spouting obscure information about bands that YOU JOE VIGLIONE think are important means very little. You are not the determiner of what is important subject matter that defines what a good disc jockey is. What station even still plays "kansas city" by the beatles or whoever else covers it?? it doesnt exist, it is irrelenet to this discussion. Also it is an important distinction that should be made, "Disc Jockey's" are just that, all they have to talk about is who played with who etc, something that in the era of the internet is fairly useless becasue listeners have access to the same information and in most cases the music even before you do. "Radio personalities" on the other hand do more than just read liner notes about artists, and are cabable of other formats and other means of entertaining their audiences. That's one of your biggest problems Joe, your opinion is just that, nothing more. You always present your opinion as fact and it never ever is fact based, nor is it even in touch with the current standard of the radio industry as a whole in this country. IF you think that a sttation the size of WBCN should be hiring jocks from WMBR adn WERS becuase that's what they did 30 years ago when they didnt really have any competittion to speak of, it makes it obvious to anyone who reads your "opinion" that you have zero idea of what it takes to operate and compete in commercial radio. Some kid with college radio skills essentially reading liner notes like the old timers like your hero Harvey Warfield used to do on air will get no ratings, period, it is not up for debate, it is fact and that is the way it is. YOU wouldnt know this becauuse you dont even work in a competitive professional field, meaning that you dont even work in commercial television, you work in cable public access where there is no competition, you would not know how to compete if you had to so you have no frame of reference, you dont know what you are talking about. THe old hippie days of radio are gone forever, get over it because the more you talk about it the clearer it becomes that you're completely out of touch with reality. Why dont you think any of those guys are working today? Harvey Warfield? Parenteau, Maxanne, Ken Shelton etc?.......... because of Oedipus?...no, that day has come and gone and unfortunately for them they were unable to change with the times and remain current and/or relevent in today's radio climate.....it's that simple, not opinion but fact.
