When does Christmas music start?

The most foul obscenity, if part of a candidate's (for any office) paid political commercial, MUST be broadcast at any time of day or night requested. To refuse to air it or to censor it in any way is a major FCC violation. Now that doesn't extend to ads placed by third parties like PACs or unions. Only those paid for by an actual candidate.

That seems like such an archaic rule. I don't think Politicians should be able to dictate a damn thing on the radio. It's one of those FCC rules which doesn't make an ounce of sense to me. As for Christmas music.... a station can do whatever the hell they please. I just wish they would use some common sense and not start playing Holiday tunes 6 full weeks before the holiday even gets here!

Should start the day after Thanksgiving. But we all know stations will go sooner. And who is fault at that. I would say Clear Channel.

Hum,I like to know how this topic got fine tuned off xmas music to FCC and Politicians, anyway I say around nov 1st some stations will sneak some tunes in the mix.and yes in December we all get stuck hearing the same ole xmas tunes we all hear with these short tested playlists that we have to play for 24/7 until Dec 26.
well it only come once a year.

The subjects ARE related. As things stand right now The FCC is not allowed to tamper with content or judge renewal/non-renewal based on format or contact. That should change around January, 2013. I wouldn't look for much Christmas music after that.

I guess I started the thread a little early, but just a little while ago I heard this promo for this contest to see the Rockettes. And it was announced as "Your official Christmas station!" So I would expect WWLI to make the flip before too long, possibly November 1.

Let me guess. The contest is to be caller number 20 on a National Hotline. ::)

It's actually a local contest so do your homework before you accuse stations of the same old same old.
