When does GST do local news now

I was listening to Coast to Coast for part of the night and noticed WGST replaced the local news updates with Fox news. WGST still did local weather and traffic but the news was only from Fox. Does anyone know what hours no longer have local news headlines? Is it evenings and overnights or even more now. I figured the firings in the news department left them short-staffed but I thought the overnight news updates were taped anyway.

I heard Scott Slade on WSB this very morning say that his alarm clock goes off at 1:58am because then he knows he's only two minutes from Atlanta's only local overnight newscasts. A subtle jab at WGST I am sure.

I'd love to get up at 1:58am to do that gig. A dream job to be sure.

That's interesting because if you remember back to the late '90's, I believe WSB started doing live newscasts overnight because WGST had started doing them. And WGST was claiming to be the only 24-hour news station.

That's true. There was also pressure from WCNN during its brief incarnation as an all news station. Of late, WGST has dropped recorded overnight local news and is now taking Fox network. The recorded local news was often out of date and of course left no opportunity to cover breaking news.

I remember that well. You'd hear the WSB news intro, and then AP Network News would come on. Only the weather was local, and no 24-hour traffic center yet.
