When does the Buckley/Connoisseur deal close?

I sure hope they don't make huge sweeping changes to the station or personnel. They got a great crew there and a lot of talent. I get the feeling they were limited at what they could do while waiting for the sale to close, I do know they are all on eggshells as they all want to stay there.

Say what you want about Grahame, but she made some big changes at DRC and turned the station around. She has my utmost respect. She has radio in her blood and you can tell she has the passion. There is a fine line to walk to make the listeners, the bosses and the sponsors happy and she has waled that tightrope well.

I wish all the best to all the DRC staff.

The "about us" section of the website has been reduced to just "advertise with us." No more listing of management personnel, no more link to the wdrcobg.com history site, nothing about the HD2, although it's still on the air as of now, grinding through selected songs from the station's old '50s/'60s music library. While it's not the DRC-FM I enjoyed for so long, it still has the same happy, enthusiastic sound and its airstaff complements the almost completely upbeat current playlist. I also wonder what Connoisseur has in store, although I have a feeling its biggest problem is what to do with the AMs it had to take on.

It's a blood letting. Everyone on the FM side has been let go. I haven't heard anything about the AM, but... Everyone's gone at the Big D.

I have a feeling they will start stunting shortly... if they got rid of Floyd and Floyd is always live then they will need to fit something in there.

I can't tell you how sad I am... especially about Rockin Ron... his Saturday Night Show was the best live show anywhere.

When I saw that Ron was let go... I got really upset. His show was very entertaining, but his Saturday Night show is no more. I don't know what's going to happen to the station now, but with everyone let go at the station, I sense a "format change" in the works... this is my guess though...

What a shame. Ron ran a really tight board on the Saturday Night show. Always a pleasure to listen to. Hope he surfaces somewhere soon.

AllAccess is reporting that personnel from WOFX, WEZN and WPLR will be filling on-air and off-air positions at DRC-FM. New afternoon drive jock is apparently Mike Lapitino, although later in the story he's referred to as the midday host, so who knows? Keith Dakin becomes the PD.

Mike Lapitino?!?! He's almost 100!

Here's another interesting tidbit out of the rumor mill locally. Connoisseur apparently made an offer for WCCC that was declined. The rumor is that they were outbid by EMF, the K-Love people. I heard this second hand so take it with a grain of salt, but it's interesting that DRC is going to take a more rock-based approach.. It's possible they know the classic rock on WCCC could be on it's way out.

Wow, that would be a killer signal for K-Love in a market that's new to Christian Contemporary music. I wouldn't listen, but I'm not listening to WCCC's current classic rock format either.

I just looked at the coverage map of WCCC... and all I could say was, Ohhhh... Myyyy....

http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WCCC&service=FM&status=L&hours=U

That will give them, quite literally, 100% coverage of the state of CT! Their 96.7 in Port Chester NY already has killer coverage of Fairfield County.

Wow!! :)

My personal feelings about this (IF it even happens) are mixed... for one, I work for a Christian radio station. :) Still, I think it will be a nice addition to the radio landscape here!

One of the biggest hold-back issues for K-Love is that it is not local. Everything comes from across the continent. Still, they have great on-air people that are fun to listen to! The music's good, too... it just gets too repetitive after a while.

That's my 5c worth. ;)
