When exactly is PPM coming to Columbus?

It is currency in September.... my prediction: WNCI dominates... circle this because you will all worship me... bitches.

What is with all this "bitches" stuff? Have you been imbibing? And I thought you went to Detroit, anyway? (Oh, maybe being stuck in Detroit explains the odd behavior...)

He's just pissed that Florentino has WNCI sounding way better now. Imaging, music, everything is MUCH better. Have fun at 955! Why call us bitches? You're Detroit's bitch now.

...and I'd imagine it must be quite a stressful transition to move from Columbus to a market where there's plenty of good-signal competition (i.e., anywhere else in the Top 50+) and you've got to work much harder and smarter to win.

Here's a broad brush look at what will happen when PPM rolls out. Station cume will almost double but their TSL will drop drastically. So, shares will compress. The difference between 1st and say 6th or 7th will be tighter. Country and Rock shares will climb. Those stations tend to fare better in PPM. Urban and Spanish stations will take a hit. WTVN will probably slide a bit too....Dominant AM stations tend to lose a little steam. Male leaning stations will have better parity with the female stations. You'll hear the jocks pre promoting specific songs or contests alot more...with very specific times to listen (ie...Listen for the Cash Call details at 10:17!) It's all about getting those folks with meters checking your station out several times a day. My gut tells me that WCOL become much more dominant.

Classic Hits also does particularly well with PPM conversion, so grapeseed-shooter WODB might graduate to pea-shooter, and pea-shooter WTDA might graduate to walnut-shooter.  I believe Hot AC also tends to get a nice bump, so WVMX may graduate from walnut-shooter to  avocado-seed shooter.  Actually, since cume is so important with PPM and you need decent coverage for decent cume, the divide between the big signals and the rimshot Columbus-wannabees will probably become bigger.  My guess is some of the ultra-marginal signals like 103.1 might go dark or stop pretending to be Columbus stations.  Or put another way, Columbus will be even more screwed by the paucity of big signals after PPM than it is today. Just speculating...maybe instead the paucity of big signals will still allow pipsqueaks to surive the PPM better here than in normal markets.

Smooth Jazz is taking hits due to PPM, from what I'm reading. WJZA days could be numbered when PPM takes effect.

Much as I don't want to see Smooth Jazz go away .. with PPM could we see SAGA possibly link 104.3 back up with 103.5 for the Classic Hits?

Now that the FCC has officially thrown out the move of WODB to west Jefferson, is it possible that Saga may now look at buying 102.5 as a new home for WODB?

No, that would make too much sense. My usual sarcasm aside, they probably don't have the money to buy anything right now, and there is certainly no potential for a trade. Hope I'm wrong.

As for Smooth Jazz, even some stations that were doing fairly well have gotten the boot -- both diary and PPM. Rightly or wrongly, it's not a very management-desired format these days.
