That movie did so much for our kind of music. Whatever happened to Harry Connick Jr.? You never hear about him any more. He belongs on standards radio as certainly as Michael Buble, Barry Manilow and Rod Stewart.

Dial Global (or at least the affiliate) is working hard to make the format exciting. The station IDs now really try to get our attention. For example, the one telling us how exciting 2009 will be. Plus, aren't you excited about gas prices being down so much?

Connick is still there. He had a Christmas album that was a little "off the wall." I played a couple of cuts, but couldn't handle the rest. Like a lot of his stuff, you either really like it, or instantly dislike it. That may be just me, but I don't think so. He has seemed distracted since Katrina. Maybe he has bigger fish to fry.

Still, he sells more records than I do. ;)

Maybe you should try it.

I loaned a friend of mine an Internet radio a while back. It was a Sangean, which looks and acts like a regular table radio. This particular person hates the way radio has gone, and is more than willing to tell you all about it in three part harmony. He couldn't believe what he'd been missing. Not only did he go out and buy a similar radio, but every time he sees me, he tells me what a wonderful thing I did for him by introducing him to the world of Internet radio. To put it mildly, he is a very happy camper. There are literally thousands of stations to choose from.

The down side is you will need a good Internet connection, and you will need to either buy a radio, or listen on your computer.

What I meant was he is still recoding and touring. And yes, we do play some of his stuff, but not everything works. He does tend to get "out there" from time to time.....
 
I have the slowest Internet speed that isn't dial-up. But it's cheap. Though the computer wasn't. I was going by newspaper ads.

With the digital TV transition, I'll have expenses soon.

I avoided hooking up the sopeakers so I wouldn't have the various online noises.

I'm mostly happy with Dial Global, and they're getting better. Plus another local station is doing a Jones-type format locally but with no DJs after the morning show.

I have no idea why you wouldn't connect up the speakers to your computer, but I suppose that is your business. You are missing a lot.
