When I was a boy.....

Hi, I am a long time radio buff, mainly 60's radio I grew up on. The DJs and music could never be topped, IMO. WLS, WCFL, KOMA, WKYC, CKLW, so many great stations I heard back when I was a kid.

The RadioRewound alert on Radio Discussions, along with an similar email from Art Vuolo, convinced me to give the WLS/WCFL un scoped air check retrospective a listen. I wasn't disappointed. But it shows what was compelling about radio on those days, and it is sorely lacking in radio today and any other good or bad facsimile, including Sirius XM, HD-2s, terrestrial station online streaming, or personal digital song track collections. I wonder if they will run it again, or make the whole thing availiable to download.

THIS is where older artists should go to get music heard! Just listen to #22 by Gouldman & May!

I know some have expressed interest in this UK-based chart of new music by Heritage artists. They are really cool for finding music by old faves.

This week's chart has new songs by The Cowsills bubbling under, plus PJ Proby, Mickey Dolenz, Ralph McTell, UB40, Eddy Grant, Mungo Jerry, The Rubettes, Status Quo, Billy Idol, Toyah & The Buzzcocks. LOBO????!!!!

Without this chart I would have missed hearing so many great new songs from old favourites still making music - you can catch up with it & also watch the TV show on the link below:
https://www.heritagechart.co.uk/

You get a conversation with PJ Proby and him singing his current song.
Graham Gouldman (Writer of masterpieces of 60's) and Brian May (of Queen) have a song together!! This song is just excellent:

There's a celebration of English Mods from the 60's with clips in the Heritage Chart TV show this week as well!
Mike Batt is here on the chart again. The late Lamont Dozier checks in at 19 with his version of his own classic "Heat Wave" featuring many older clips of Motown artists he wrote for. Micky Dolenz checks in at #8! The Scotts make #1 thanks to most votes. That's what it's all based on.

You can also watch the weekly TV show about this chart - 25 episodes are here so far:-
