When is CBS Radio NYC moving studio's downtown?

When is CBS Radio moving studio's downtown? Opie and Anthony mention this many times in there show but when? Is there already a plan who is first, next etc?

From what I read online, the move has already started but it's happening in slow chunks.

Look for the first stations to move over the next few months. Eventually, all six NYC CBS radio stations will likely be downtown.

Is there already a plan who is first, next etc?

Yes, there is.

Oh, you want to know what the order is? Sorry, can't tell you that.

From what I read online, the move has indeed been slow but it is said that some of the FM offices are already operating from there. Apparently, CBS Radio has been rather challenged of late. I hear that this new downtown facility is being constructed without state of the art digital audio equipment because the top individuals in CBS Radio corporate engineering (who are actually doing the hands on management this project) don't really understand the benefit of having digital audio and they decided to opt for the cheapest solutions. I am also hearing that there are so many things which have been "value subtracted" from this project that the NYC cluster of CBS radio stations will not have adequate facilities to serve them comfortably and reliably during times of "stress". Unbelievable but true.

It seems odd that CBS Radio would put its entire fleet of NYC stations into a single facility over which they do not have ownership control, unless they are trying to package them all together for selling off to a willing buyer.

So the new station Now FM will operate from the old studio's in this comming months? Or are they start from the new studio's when they have a line up?

Unbelievable? No. Disappointing? Absolutely.

Awesome. Well, one can hope they have at least decent equipment for Market #1. The audio on CBS's NYC FM stations does not sound all that stellar as they stand now. Each of them sounds somewhat muddied when compared to their competitors and stations that play similar music. I don't know what causes it, as all three stations apparently use different processing equipment. Might it be the lines to the transmitter or something that CBS uses on their stations that the other groups in the markets do not (other than processors)?

With regards to the move downtown, only WCBS-FM's website reflects the change to the Hudson Street address. The websites for Fresh and 92.3 list the studios from which they currently broadcast.

The sales and business departments for 92.3 and CBS-FM are at Hudson Street, and have been for a couple of weeks. No studios have moved yet. 92.3 and CBS-FM will be the first to move studios, but they're waiting for some final electrical work to be done before they can go. WFAN will be next, followed by WINS/WWFS. WCBS AM won't move until 2010 at the very earliest.

1) The station order is WCBS FM, 92-3 NOW, Fresh, WINS, WFAN.
2) WCBS and WXRK sales are there already. WWFS sales is moving next week.
3) The consoles are VistaMax digital from Harris with Trilogy digital intercoms. VistaMax is Harris' current technology and was chosen because other CBS stations use it and there is familiarity with it among CBS engineers. It was not the cheapest solution.

Any updates? Are there stations operating yet from there new studio? Which? Maybe some video or pics available?

As soon as the CBS Engineers pick up all the roach clips and blunts.

erwin33 asked:

Any updates?

Nope. After all, this is CBS radio we're talking about here. Updates are not an option.

Are there stations operating yet from there new studio?

Nope. There new studio isn't ready yet. I think there still trying to get the electric service right.

Maybe some video or pics available?

Are you kidding? Again, this is CBS radio we're talking about here. These are the same people who blowed up 101.1 with jack.

and... according to my sources, updates are not an option. It appears that everything CBS radio does is shrouded in secrecy.

But not because they really want it to be secret.

Rather, because of poor planning and execution they actually don't know what they're doing and getting to where they need to be in any project in order to qualify it as a success requires at least four times the amount of work than it should be.

Target dates are meaningless in this scenario because it is a struggle to get anything working in a project that hasn't been properly designed from the beginning. As long as cost continues be the primary driving and deciding force in the decision of how to proceed and the radio stations that move will end up with less than they have now in their current locations, they will no doubt get to the downtown studios when they get there. I'm sure we'll hear about it when it happens.
