When is CNN going to drop Anderson Cooper

DToTheJ said:
Ah, yes, Paula Zahn - the one hyped in promos as someone who's "smart, sophisticated, and oh yeah, just a little sexy [zipper sfx]"?

Speaking of Anderson Cooper - excuse me, "A.C." - they abruptly ended their coverage of the Kennedy memorial service. After Caroline spoke, they cut away from the closing number from the two Irish tenors, to go directly to an in-progress "AC 360". Someone must have been miffed that the service went a little longer than scheduled...

Not to defend CNN, but it is always tough to make a call when a live news event isn't really news anymore. I think CNN covered the major "mourners" in this case. To cover the closing music segments is certainly a judgement call, but with today's cable world you could have always easily switched to someone who was carrying it if you wanted.

CNN will shuffle AC into oblivion, or just fire him, when yet another light weight with a hook of some sort is "discovered." To CNN Cooper is nothing more than another do-nothing, talking head to fill the time slot until another in that endless ilk blows through the studio door. Then Cooper will be only one of many people who were "once there."

To quote Mr. Spacely from The Jetsons - How 'bout the SECOND SUNDAY THAT COMES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK.

Or better yet, how 'bout the 32nd day of the month (Pick a month).ha

In short - NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

That said, there's no reason why he should be given a TWO HOUR show though.

Just m $.02 worth.....

Cheers :)

The problem is that Aaron Brown was too much of a traditional journalist. That doesn't sell anymore, at least not on cable. When Anderson Cooper stops looking good then we'll see a change.
But the thing is Anderson Cooper can maintain the balance between looking good & being a more "traditional" journalist.

His special reports & reports from the war zone are proof of this.

Just my opinion....

Cheers :)

I know you are referring specifically to the Kennedy memorial service, but it seems to me that the networks, especially the cable networks, do not stop covering a specific news event until another major news event comes along and pushes that previous event out of the headlines and off the front pages. In other words, they just go from one "feeding frenzy" to another.

Now that this story is "over", it's back to 24/7 Michael Jackson coverage.

Well, considering Kennedy is now buried four days after his death, and Jackson is still "above ground" two months after his, I think you are right.

About as sure a sign as any you'll find that the Jacksons are a dysfunctional family. That, and the fact that they let their "black sheep" LaToya be their spokeswoman to the media!

Does anyone besides me notice that the Jackson and Kennedy residences are almost always referred to in the media as "compounds"? Everyone else lives in a "residence" or a "house," but the Jacksons and Kennedys live in "compounds." Evidently, no Jackson or Kennedy ever "leaves home." They just get their own room at the "compound."

... I think you are right.

Reminder: Jackson's funeral is scheduled for this Thursday. Incidentally, it was originally scheduled for his birthday, which was this past Saturday - the day Teddy was buried...

Jackson's "funeral," if you could call it that, was July 7th. Saturday was to have been a private service, except that Katherine Jackson is a Jehovah's Witness, and doesn't believe in "celebrating" birthdays. Since it was to have been a private service, there was no potential conflict with Ted Kennedy's televised memorial service(s).
