When is Gary Burbank's last show. I wanna hear that one.

Garys last show is Friday, December 21st,2007 3-6 PM!

I don't look for anything extraordinary. Just a nice recap of years past. I think it would be hard for him to leave without some emotion. It would for me if I was there for 26 years, since 1981.

Wow! So this is the last week. Thanks.

Whenever Jim Scott retires (if there really still is a Jim Scott) he should do his last show from a rooftop, or at least part of one. That was classic radio.

Someone aircheck and post it, please?

Download Itunes, goto podcasts, and you can set it up to download the entire final week of shows as well as go back and download the past month or so of shows. Just search for Gary Burbank.

He could pull a "last show" stunt like he did at WAKY. If you have a subscription to reelradio it's worth a listen.

Rob was that the one they played on XM 6 this past weekend where they ran the "this is a dramatic segment" warning to the listeners so no one would call the cops (or the station would be covered if they did)?

That's the one. Burbank ended his time at WAKY with a bang. It's worthy of a listen because the written word can't do it justice.

And the talent isn't there for someone to try and do it again. Burbank is one of a dying breed of actual entertainers instead of 5x9 card readers.

There is an extensive collection of his airchecks here:

You forgot to mention the management factor. Today's breed of VP/Cluster Manager wouldn't allow it to happen. There are end of year bonuses at risk you know.

I thought it was done right - up, bright, clean and tight. It was good to hear Andy Mac and Trumpy, Doc and some of the old characters, but I'm an old guy and I like to remember the fun stuff.

Not too long ago, Gary's health wasn't very good. He's bounced back. I'm glad he'll have some time to enjoy his grandkids and his place in Florida.

His work ethic was tremendous - hope he can convert it to a play ethic.

Even though it appears Garish's last show isnt generating that much buzz here...I may as well give my three cents worth....I havent listened to Gary on a regular basis since my late 20's (I am now in my early 40's)--but I did make sure to listen yesterday. It was a very well done farewell...not too schmaltzy...in fact it seemed to stick to pretty much format, even taking a few "Sports or Consequences" questions. It was fun listening to Trumpy, Andy Mac and John Phillips together again. When all of them and Doc were on board that was definitely the show's heyday...that show was legendary. I listened to WLW religiously growing up (and that was living in Columbus) and hearing yesterday's show and the passing of Joe Nuxhall recently just made me think that an era has passed by...or I am just getting feeble minded :)....The highlights of Gary's last show for me was around 3:40 when "Seg" Man just finished his sports update and Andy Mac told him to "Get Out!"....and listening to Bob Trumpy tell how he let the air out of anyone's tires that parked in his parking space at the station....Andy Mac doing Xavier games...Trump doing "SportsTalk" and Gary clowning on ad spots....I will miss those days.
