Actually I thought it was a great hire and was defintitely looking forward to his influence. Both KNX and KFWB were sounding tired and stale and definitely needed some serious upgrading. I really thought he would bring a more Fox-like attitude to one or both of the stations, giving them an edge that they never had while possibly attracting some of the younger male demos he brought to KFI. I also thought it was obvious that one should remain a core news station while the other one should be steered to a more news/talk approach.
Well so much for those expectations. Instead of those changes, we get cooking shows, incessant banter, more replays of the same stories, a total wrecking ball taken to the clock and traffic reports that are 4-5 minutes separated, reporting the same accidents on freeways that I'm not on. And the fawning press and laradio.com talk about what a genius he is for expanding the noontime business hour while completely ignoring the ratings fall-out.
Amazing.
