When is KSWB 5 changing broadcast channels?

I thought they were supposed to change broadcast frequencies by 2005? Well, it's September 2005, where's the new frequency?

KSWB-TV is on UHF 69 for analog and HDTV is on UHF 19. UHF 69 will sign off and be fulltime with HDTV on Channel 19. The station identifies as WB 5.1 and WB 5.2.

Of course, this being a radio forum .... it's really radio with pictures.
______________

So then, in San Diego, you will not be able to watch KSBW without either cable or an HD tuner? Are all the stations in San Diego going to do this about the same time?

in the United States of America, you will have to upgrade to an HDTV tuner for over the air in the "near" future.

analog is so fifty years ago.
______________

I think you meant KSWB, not KSBW-8/Monterey.

I'd love to see him try to receive KSBW in San Diego with KFMB using the same channel in-market, actually ...
______________

It'd be a REAL nice trick, considering I live in Lubbock Texas, LOL!

Well, some of you know my position of this, but let me restate again:
This is all just a waste of energy to force us to buy new TVs and equipment. Aside from the sports fan who just HAS to see the numbers on the shirts of the quarterback, I bet most Americans would have been just happy with TV the way it was. C'mon, is it really so important for us to have just a few more pixels on the screen? Doesn't make LOST, or CSI any better than they are, just a bit clearer (and from my sampling at Best Buy, I'm not impressed). As for the picture size, no increase in room, just a change in dimension. It's a big farce, a waste of time, and another way for the TV industry to get more of our money.

But that's MHO.

Ok, folks, back to the dicussion, nothing to see here, move along...

I agree. HDTVS are very expensive, and only 1/8 of cable channel broadcast in HD. A secret: If you have satelite you don't need to buy a new TV because it's all digital. However if you want HDTV you'll have to buy a new set.

I have HDTV and the picture IS great. It DOES make Lost better. I bet I can see clues better on my 46inch HDTV on lost than on analog.

And football and baseball DO look better. I get to se an extra 20 yds of the field!

Just what I needed.
To spend extra $300 so I can see 20 emty yards....

I don't really need to see the flies on the faces on Lost.

I can't wait to see how vivid and crisp all of the infomercials will appear on the myriad digital subchannels!
