When Is The Imus Syndication Rollout Coming?

When do you think Citadel will announce the syndication rollout of Imus?

Since they put him on WABC in New York, wouldn't it be logical they would put him on all their other news/talk stations?

The roll-out has begun. He's on Citadel-owned KABC in LA, and on affiliates in Boston and elsewhere. If the Citadel talk PDs want the show, they can have it. If you're asking when the force feeding of Imus on every former-ABC talk station will begin, that's a different question and one I'm not sure will ever become reality.

Started on WTAA Atlantic City Dec 3rd...the first day.

The only major markets he's in as far as I can see are Boston, New York, and Los Angeles. I can't believe that's going to be it.

Why not? He's not going over very well in New York and that's one of the few places where he was very successful even before ho-gate.

Agreed. The retooled Imus show is almost unlistenable. Rodeo reports! Too many unfunny sidekicks! Big mistake by Citadel.

Not going over well? How would you know? Based on nay-sayers here on this message board? His first 8 days on WABC were rated by the PPM and showed Imus with a 6.2 share, up 20% from the previous show. 25-54 was a 3.5 and up 30%. 35-64 was up 40%. In Men 18+, he had a 6.3 share for #2 in the market, only .3 tenths behind WINS. So he is doing well.

As for the syndication part of it, we just hit 29 stations. That is nearly half of where he was when the show was canceled. Not bad for a little over a month on the air.

The first eight days? After all the hype a lot of us listened in the first eight days and gave this boring show a collective thumbs down. You know very well that those eight day numbers didn't hold up.

You know very well that those eight day numbers didn't hold up.

Yes...don't let the facts stand in the way of somebody's preconceived notions. Yes they did. With the PPM I can see every day of the week. He started off hot as a pistol as one would expect, on day one. By the end of the 8 days his numbers were a bit lower, but his numbers were still good. Unlike you, I actually saw the data. I have it. No data exists beyond the first 8 days. If you knew what you were talking about, you would have known that. The next batch of PPM data won't come in for a week.

Look you can criticize Imus all you want, I could care less. I just don't like people lying about how he is doing. It's just this sick gene inside me that makes me come here and smack you people down when you lay claim to facts that don't exist. If you hate the show, then have fun. Post any opinion you want. You would think somebody who cares about radio would appreciate the fact that somebody who actually has SEEN the data came here to post them. But no, in the wacky world of this message board, facts are to be ridiculed. Crazy ass opinions with no connection to reality are to be praised. Go figure.

You could care less? How much less? I think you mean you couldn't care less. And please get back to us with that "next batch of PPM data," which I am willing to bet everything I own will show a continued decline. And please tell us why New Yorkers would want to hear rodeo reports!

NewsVet: Not meaning to insult you...just having fun with you which is different. If the couch is not flea ridden, my apologies. I notice you did not deny that you have a 68 Opal Kadet AND a lava lamp...so I guess I got you on that one....LOL. I never even mentioned those old Homer Simpson boxer shorts.

Wish I could say that I'm sure that Phil will let us know when he gets the bad news, but I'm not holding my breath.

I will be happy to do that, provided Citadel has not banned me from the message boards by then. Enjoy the retirement...and I hope I get there someday still in one piece.

A typical Phil Boyce reply, complete with personal insults aimed at somebody he knows nothing about.

I did not insult YOU...but made fun of NewsVet...which is a screen name. You choose to not use your real name, so of course I know nothing about you. If you wanna post here as your real name so I know who I am talking to, I might be more respectful. If you really are retired, why hide behind a fake name? Who is going to get you now....you made it out alive? But I will say this about my feisty attitude. I defend my hosts against attacks. You attacked my host, and I defended him. I don't let people do that here and get away with it...so if you want me to be nice, then YOU be nice. You made assumptions about his ratings that simply were not true. I realize people do that ALL the time on this board...but when it involves one of my guys, I step up to the plate.

Not meaning to insult any person...but nobody knows who you are right? So how can I insult a screen name?
pb

I'm retired from the radio business, but still do some freelance writing for print and don't think my employers would want me to reveal my lefty leanings, as I would if I used my real name here or elsewhere on the Internet.

As for Imus's ratings, you've admitted that they started to fall off in his first eight days on WABC and, as I've said, common sense tells me that they will continue to decline as the curiosity audience drifts away (or perhaps "is driven away" is a better way to put it, given the rodeo reports, country music, serious discussions about autisim and his wife's other interests, unfunny new sidekicks, etc, etc.).

As for your insults, the ones directed at me were mild compared with your liberal use of the word "loser" to describe other contributors to this board who've had the temerity to question your opinions.

And no, I don't have an old car, a lava lamp, or Simpson boxer shorts. Do you? No, I guess not, given that you're so "successful," as you've reminded us so many times.

NewsVent says:

I don't talk about my success. I talk about the success of my hosts. I defend them against lies. But I am not ashamed of the fact that I have had success in this business, as well as failure. Frankly failure is more valuable. When you have success you are merely applying what you already know. When you fail you learn to never do that again. It is the greatest teacher.

Phil is right. Imus is not my style going back to his LA days. But if you look at the PPM numbers he is having an impact on the market place. You can not like him, hate him even, but you can't lie about his impact. Will that impact hold? Only time will tell. But you have to give him his due.

Today's Imus program mainly consisted of playing recordings of Martin Luther King speechs from the early 60's. I did hear some Levon Helm music in there too. Oh, there was also a very insightful discussion with Frank Rich of the New York Times about the evil of Ronald Reagan. Sign me up!

I wish they would put him on in Vegas, morning radio is a wasteland there--he could do a remote.
