WHEN RF-11 GOES AWAY in D/FW...

JHBrandt said:
Took a bit longer than I expected but KVFW/38 was finally back last night. Interestingly, 38.2 still had PromiseLand programming, but was no longer a simulcast of KTAQ/47.

For the past two nights, these Tar Road facilities have been off: KDTN/2, KTAQ/47 and KDTX/58. Although they transmit from the same Richland Tower site, all three do not share a common antenna.

I no longer have a reliable engineering contact in the D/FW market, so I have no idea if some changes are in the works...or if all three just didn't pay the light bill. :) :)

They don't!? That comes as a surprise. They're on the same tower, at the same height, with the same antenna pattern.

You are correct. I based my wrong assumption on the FCC CP filings wherein all three have a slightly different value for ``Height of Radiation Center Above Average Terrain''. Digging deeper, I see that KDTN, KTAQ and KDTX all use the same antenna type: RFS Model PHP36C.

Reminds me of another incident that happened back in '08 when all of a sudden, all Dish Network customers couldn't get all those channels, then KTXA, KDFI and some others I forgot went off as well when these came on.... is this like a 2 year cycle?
