WHEN THE NEWS GETS BAD - JOHN DE PETRO CHANGES THE SUBJECT

Tuned into John DePetro this morning on WRKO to hear Ch. 7's political reporter, Andy Hiller, report on the gubernatorial campaign.
Had to wait through a interminally insipid segment with Kerry Healey in which DePetro did everything he could to promote her.

After the 10 AM news Hiller came on and reported polling from 3 different souces - Ch 7, Ch4 and Zogby which all state that Deval Patrick is anywhere between 20 to 24 points ahead of Healey.
In addition, Kerry Healey has in Andy Hiller's words "self-immolated herself while trying to burn Deval Patrick with her negative ads."

Kerry Healey's negatives have increased he said beyond the point of help.

Andy Hiller left John DePetro nearly speechless and when the segment was over DePetro never mentioned it again and then went on an attack of CNN as if the negative polling on Kerry Healey never happened.

Guess denial is more than a river ...

So, like a kid who blocks his ears not to hear something he does not want to hear John DePetro simply changes the subject.

Hate to say this but in some ways a Patrick win would be good for talk hosts like DePetro and Howie;
people could vent about higher taxes, early releases for murderers, hackerama, backroom deals....not that
I'd like to see it happen, but certainly there would be enough to (female dog) about...

Actually, Raccoon, I firmly believe with all the corruption they've uncovered in Ohio (the coin scandal; the recent episode of the GOP trying to default the Democrat), that Kerry actually won the state. I know, i know, Democrats have allegedly stolen campaigns (Kennedy v. Nixon) so you might say "turnabout is allegedly fair play" while I'll come back with two wrongs don't make a right" - although wrongful DIEBOLD misconduct MAKES the "right".

That being said, All the negative stuff had to boomerang on Healey - she forgot that she has to put some cake out there with the frosting. The negative campaign would work if she had Dukakis in a tank or Willie Horton.

She didn't. To go negative for negative's sake to attempt to win an election is just plain wrong. Ralph Nader fights the Corporate battles he fights for good reason. There is no substance to Healey's charges. (though the Tank and Willie Horton were both over the top and distorted reality, one has to concede they were effective)

Deval Patrick will be a good Governor - better than Mr. No Show Romney. At least we'll HAVE a Governor.

Weld gave it to Cellucci, Celluci gave it to Swift; the GOP gave Swift a swift kick; Romney has attacked Massachusetts proving that the Boy from Utah should never have been allowed to run. See, if Shannon O'Brien was Governor we wouldn't be having this conversation. Send Mr. Smile back to Utah

OK, I'm not voting for her, but I did give her kudos during the debate when, I think it was Allison King who referenced Mr. No Show, and her response was awesome, "I think he gets your message loud and clear"

"Abdicated"! Bad choice of words. Wilbur is full of himself but I must have missed the coronation and the crowning. Then again, what does that make Muffy - Lady in Waiting ? More likely the "upstairs" help.
 
Casablanca, your comments stray further and further from the topic of radio. Everything becomes your thoughts about healey and her alleged polo ponies.
How about her appearance on Paul Sullivan's show tonight, did you hear that? I doubt it, since all your radios are logging WRKO 24/7.
I didn't relaize this was a political board, which actually sounds more like a WEEI Whiner Line or even a talk radio show on any given station, where people make derogatory comments about appearances, thinking that has anything to do with substance. The fellowship of the miserable.
And I don't single you out, Casablanca. You have comrades-in-keyboard on this board.
It just gets so freakin' OLD. And the worst thing? Other boards don't have the passion of this one, so they're bland. A Catch 22, a Kobiyashi Maru, an irony.
There are boards dedicated to political talk. I come here looking for news, insight and gossip about radio.
