The only way WKKB would become an Oldies Station is if someone signed an LMA with DMG to program an Oldies Format.

OR...in the event that Davidson were able to get their hands on a more desireable signal, in which case they could always spin off 100.3

Unlikely...but anything's possible.

Why would WKKB switch formats? They are very popular with the spanish. That would be a stupid move.

You know what frequency would be the best for a Spanish station? 1220. Its signal covers where the Hispanics are & yet doesn't really go beyond that. It can be heard day & night in Providence, Pawtucket, Central Falls & at least West Warwick in the daytime. Put on SBN's coverage of the Red Sox! As opposed to 100.3 which is staticy on a portable around Providence (around Kennedy Plaza it's barely there), 990 which emanates from God's Country & 1110 which could do Portuguese.

Actually, 100.3 does pretty well for itself signal-wise....when you consider they transmit from the old Channel 6 tower in Tiverton....almost 20 miles outside Providence.

Davidson has a nice little signal for themselves...one that any number of parties would probably find appealing if it ever became available.

Who really knows if DMG would sell 100.3 or not. What I do know is while it's not officially for sale DMG is looking to get around 700K for WXCT 990 in Southington, Connecticut. Their 2500 watt day time signal gets out pretty well, but their 80 watt night signal sucks, but they've been illegally broadcasting at 2500 watts at night for the past few months. A friend of mine talked directly to DMG's president Felix Perez about WXCT 2 years ago. (DMG's namesake Peter Davidson is no longer with the company. He's running Blackstrap Broadcasting - Brokered WWZN 1510 in Boston and Brokered 620 WSNR in Jersey).
