When will 105.1 change format?

I say get rid of the old school hip hop station and put rock back on. The old school hip hop stations have run there course. Do yall think it will happen?

Other than classic rock, rock is poison to advertisers. The audience is too small, and the target demo tends to be cynical about advertising. Rhythmic drives music on radio,

But then why do you have plenty of non classic rock stations in the country. From alt 98.7 in la and kroq to 91x in san diego to a alt station in lexington ky. If it is so toxic to advertisers why so many current rock stations in the country?

Alternative is a viable format in some markets, but also a very steep startup slope.

For example, WRFF in Philadelphia, a fairly recent convert to the format, is in the top 5 in 25-54, but last year was 18th in market revenue, down from the previous year's rank.

The ones you mention in CA have been, in some form, in the format for several decades or more. They have overcome the image of being an ad medium for pawn shops and bail bonds providers.

But we are not talking about Alternative... the original post was about AAA, which is a much harder format to create today as attempts over the recent decades have shown from everywhere from LA to NYC.

Ok, can you post what Station & Where

There's like 3 105.1 in Kentucky

Louisville's 105.1 "The artist formerly known as The Walrus" is what's being focused on.

I'm not sure what else you could try on there. It's had rock, talk, soft rock, classic hits, hip hop..........
