When Will Chicago Rock Again?

The loop playing the same ol boring playlist, will chicago get a mainstream rocker to compete with the loop. Alot of midwest towns have two rockers to compete for audience.

Chicago is a hip hop and rap city when it comes to the younger demos so not anytime soon. Only place where the cash is on the rock side of things is the 25-54 classic rock and classic hits demo.

And Q-101 is likely going to go bye bye very soon now that Mancow is out.

Don't forget House Music as well!!!!!!!!

Chicago rocks louder and harder than ever with Octane Sirius 20, Hair Nation Sirius 23, Hard Attack Sirius 27, Buzzsaw Sirius 19, and for all of you alternative junkies out there...Alt Nation Sirius 21 is pretty damn good too.

Let them local FMers keep destroying themselves. See if I care. They drove me away from the FM dial anyways!

I remeber the days of the Blaze 103.5 that was good radio programming for rock. Chicago needs something like that again. But thats my opinion!!!!!! Now as for the other formats like house/dance/ I think since Chicago does have house roots and has a good club scene there should be a radio station with that kind of a format. I know some of you will poo-poo that idea but remember Energy 92.7&5 the were billing good for the signal they were on and from what i know the only sold to only part of the area in which they were broadcasting from. i think that format could be supported here in chicago. i mean smaller markets have that format

Hey, easy! Active rock is not supposed to be the cause celebre of Chicago radio nerds again until someone flips to dance.

WCKG needs to ROCK again. That's all I'm sayin'.

Yeah, that's the audience advertisers are craving--the juvie home audience and Beavis and Butt-Head. :)

it can't do any worse in the ratings than they are NOW. if they do it right, they could take on Q101 easily enough and possibly get some Loop listeners too. maybe even some of the listeners that tuned in to the rocket-science experiment that was on state street that are looking for a rock station would show up for a rockin' 'CKG. stranger things have happened. like good numbers for mancow...

but what do i know? i'm just a paperboy in the suburbs lookin' for my TWO DOLLARS.

I wouldn't even bother to listen. I've been screwed over way too many times by Chicago radio. Sirius is all I need.

I have xm and siruis, i like xm 41 Da Boneyard rocks. Lou Brutus is Pd for the boneyard, he just started a month ago. Any remember the king of fa from the mighty rock 103.5 days.

Well if you want to hear the old Blaze, check out WERV's HD2 channel, The Rapids. Programmed by an ex-Blaze staff member Scott Childers and fan of the genre Didi Foley. You'll have to be in the Aurora/Naperville area to hear the HD2 signal, but you can hear it online at: http://959theriver.fm/pages/55745.php

The rapid rocks, i have been listening alot to it this weekend. It is a combo of rock 103.5 and the blaze. Has anybody heard loop loud, is it any good? Is it active rock or more metal?

In regards to the above, Loop Loud is pretty good. They're mainly an active rock format with your standard Disrturbed, Korn, Mudvayne, mixed in with some 90's stuff (Soundgarden, STP, etc.) and I've even heard them play Slayer, Pantera, and Sepultura. Overall, a pretty eclectic mix. Hope that helps.

Chicago radio is over and done as we know it.

Thank you SIRIUS!!!!!!

Documented proof, please--if Sirius subscribers in Chicago were an Aribtron rating, where would they rank?

The only thing I'll listen to on Chicago Radio is The Score, ESPN/MVP, and Cubs Games. The Cubs game part on WGN could all come to an end soon if MLB ever makes it to Sirius.
