When will Lite FM Go All Christmas?

Does anyone know when Lite FM will go all Christmas? I heard quite a few stations across the country will make the flip tomorrow. Will WLTW join the bandwagon or wait until Turkey weekend?

Is anyone else planning on going all Christmas? PLJ possibly?
______________

But if another station beats WLTW-106.7 in going all-Christmas, "Lite" will change shortly after the other station does.

Indeed, they may be planning to make the flip late next week (Thanksgiving or the day after), but I suspect they're ready to go now, and would flip at any time should someone else beat them to it.

Station Website Listing Of Songs Played: WLTW-106.7/Lite FM Has Gone All Christmas

Based on their playlist (as published on their website), WLTW-106.7 had taken the plunge and went all-Christmas at 5 P.M. EST today (November 18th).

I believe this is the first time they've switched prior to Thanksgiving. I thought last year, they flipped on the day after Thanksgiving. I thought that they first did it in 2003, but only did it for about a week before Christmas.

And shortly after 6 P.M., WLTW's website was changed to an "all-Christmas" look.
Edited by Joseph_Gallant on 11/18/05 11:22 PM.

^ That's the sound of radios everywhere being turned off or tuned to a different channel, to get away from the barrage of pre-seasonal Christmas music on WLTW. (As of yet, WNEW and WPLJ have not changed their playlists, and hopefully they won't go 100% all-Christmas until at least mid-December.)

Maybe I'm missing something because I don't have Flash installed, but I don't see that... aside from the music playlist, I don't see anything Christmas-related. In fact, there's a big "Happy Thanksgiving" message on the main page.

Has WLTW's programming given any clues if this all-Christmas playlist will continue until 12/25, or if it's just for this weekend? So far, I'm holding out hope that come Monday morning, they'll be back to their regular AC playlist, perhaps with one or two Christmas songs per hour mixed in. Because especially before Thanksgiving, that's really all they should be doing, to avoid burning out "A Holly Jolly Christmas" and "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" (two of the best popular-era Xmas songs ever recorded, IMO) long before the holiday actually arrives.

The Friday before Turkey Day now seems to be the official holiday flip date for most CC stations now (with the exception of a few rebels like Phoneix). It was this way last year also.

It is the Flash portion of the page--right next to the logo are the words "Non-stop Holiday Music"

It sounds like this is the real thing. I've been listening for quite a bit since 5PM yesterday, and they are branding themselves "Your Home for the Holidays" and JJ Kennedy said that you can request your regular love songs after 106.7 starts playing their regular music after the holidays, if I heard her correctly.

As far as burnout---Karla Bonoff's "First Noel" is already at the top of my "Oh my gosh if I hear this one more time, I'm turning it off" list. Hopefully, Lite will add a few more tunes to the mix in the coming weeks or else this playlist will burn out really fast. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas music on the radio, but a bigger playlist is a good thing. There's always other options outside the city. Last year, I chose 'PLJ because I felt that there was much more variety in the music, and I enjoyed the presentation better. But, regardless, for now the holiday songs are here to stay in NYC!

Cincinnati's WVMX went all-Christmas on November 8th.

Detroit's WNIC-100.3, which like WVMX is A Christmas Channel (Clear Channel) Property, flipped way back on November 1st. And CC's WSNI-104.5 Philadelphia flipped on November 4th.

WNIC and WSNI might be "test cases" for CC as regards whether broadcasting an all-Christmas format starting in early November would be successful. If they are successful with the early November start, many more CC stations next year will be flipping to all-Christmas much earlier in November than this year-------we could possibly see numerous flips on or shortly after November 1st!
