When Will the Bee Make Honey

I know we are all sick of hearing about the 'return' of B94, but I had some things I wanted to throw at all of you.

First, when will we be able to see how B94 is doing in the books? Will it be the next book release or the one following that? I am sure the ratings will still be low as they are just getting advertisements and putting their on air staff, but where do 'yanz' think the B will fit on the next book?

And, how low will you go? I took a look at the B94 website and was looking at their picture section and they have pictures of their interns (presumably) dressed in bee costumes standing along side McKnight Road holding signs announcing the "B' was back.

As a former radio intern, I would NOT go that low unless I was promised 'in writing' I would be given an air shift. Besides, people would get sick and NOT listen to B94 if they saw me dressed as a giant bee.

Did anyone catch that the B's phone # switched from "412-333-9370" to its original number of "412-333-9494"? Some of the graphic files that I found on their image server prior to their coming back as the "B" showed the "9494" phone #, but when their site finally came up, it showed the "9370" #.

The "9494" number was giving a "Buzzzzzzy" signal several days prior to the B coming back.

Smart move though, "9494" is a lot easier to remember than "9370" and better fits the branding.

The bee costumes are somewhat corny. But at the same time, it's nostalgic and reminds me of glory days of the station. Atleast they are doing something to advertise.

I'm by no means an expert on the ratings. But I'm hoping they can atleast get near a 1.5 in the next ratings survey on hype alone. As airstaff arrives and they start promoting the station more, I can see them eventually rising above Kiss.

I agree with you Dave on the corny costumes. It should be one heck of a B 94 party this Saturday night though. I bet most people attending will have on Bee costumes.

B 94 has been promoting the station on the KDKA news. I'm not sure if they have other times of the day.

I'm going to set the bar higher and hope for at least a 2.0 from B 94 in the next ratings period. I think it's very possible as Kiss and Star lost some listeners to the B. It should be an interesting full fall book when it comes out at the end of the year.

Bring on the airstaff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Given the fact that they didn't come on the air with a finished product, this book is virtually meaningless. The winter book will be the story.

Talk about very smart planning on their part. The B94 party is at Matrix at the same time Kiss is having one at Margarita Mamas. Station Square will be quite busy.

I wouldn't call it meaningless because it'll still be better than any book for '07. But, you're right that it'll bet better with jocks and the rest of the station on par.

Battle of the clubs = great competition. Something you don't see a lot of in PGH Radio.

Yea, they were not interns, they were hired by the station from an outside company. And those pics arent even up on the site any more.
