When Will TV News Stringers become obsolete?

I noticed that in the Bay Area when a major event happens like the Oscar Grant shooting the TV Media here tends to rely more on video that surfaced on Youtube by a videoblogger. But in LA and to a certain extent San Diego however they tend to use professional stringers like On Scene Video, RMG News and Newsreel to capture events. Will Professional Stringers be obsolete in SoCal as more people use their own personal cameras to capture events and upload it to youtube.
