When will WiLD be moved to the Top40 Panel

WILD does sound more like a Clear Channel CHR. When are they going to change from the rhythmic WILD name to a CC top 40 name? Most CC CHRs these days are being called Radio Now.

WiLD will NEVER get rid of their current logo. At least not unless there are major changes in the CC buidling. The GM designed their current logo. Last I heard, no one in the building truly is a fan of that logo either.

As far as a panel change. Mediabase has a consultant that makes quarterly recommendations for panel changes. If a change is coming it will most likely happen in July.

They are pretty much a rhythmic friendly CHR now. I think the signal holds WILD back somewhat....seeing that WILD actually outperforms and out-cumes Project 96.1, I wonder if the two should swap frequencies?

WILD's sweepers still sound very rhythmic and urban. Will this change? Isn't there a missing spot in this market for rhythmic? Why are they trying to go more mainstream CHR?

Seen Q100's ratings recently? Atlanta desperately needs CHR competitor. Musically, Wild is teetering on the mainstream CHR border and has been for the better part of a year.

I've been saying for some time that an Amp Radio-style presentation would work wonders in this city. I'd love if Wild made some formatic tweaks to sound poppier - music-wise, they're about 85% there.

Yes Kiss 104.1. I wish they will get rid of that logo and use the one like KYLD

I highly doubt Cox will change the Kiss 104.1 logo again considering they just gotten the current one just last summer. The other Cox-owned "Kiss" station, WBHK/Birmingham, basically used the one from the now defunct-WRKS "98.7 Kiss FM" in NYC.

I believe he was referring to the WWVA/WWLG "WiLD" logo but I'm not a fan of the "WiLD 105.7/96.7" logo. The only other stations I can think of that used KYLD's logo at one point were KWWV in San Luis Obispo, California and CKEY in Buffalo.

Speaking of WALR's "Kiss" logo, I think the station is the only urban "Kiss" station that has never had the lipstick imprint incorporated in its logo at all, much like WRKS (R.I.P.), KISQ, WKYS (which doesn't brand itself "Kiss" anymore) or WJKS. Too bad CC calls its pop stations Kiss-FM and NEVER puts lipstick on any of them.

Looking at WiLD's playlist, you can pretty much call them a mainstream CHR. The format has been leaning more pop and rhythmic for the last year or two with very little rock to lean on.

That is the truth. If we were in a era in which Kings of Leon, Theory of a Deadman, Linkin Park and Nickelback were commonplace and Wild wasn't playing them, then you could make the case of them being a rhythmic station. But given that there's so little rock on CHR now, the line between pop and rhythmic is rather blurry. On that evidence, I can justify moving Wild to the mainstream panel.

I know...I was being sarcastic

I think the key, though, is that a station on the CHR panel needs to be WILLING to play popular Alt/Rock when it does come out - otherwise, you could just move every Rhythmic station to the CHR panel and justify it by saying that there's not a lot of rock in the Top 40 chart anyway - and then the more Rhythmic stations on the panel, the lower the peaks of the rock tracks, etc.

I want to point out once again that Neon Trees "Everybody Talks" is #13 on the ITunes chart, yet only #28 on the CHR chart - and Jason Mraz "I Won't Give Up" is #21 on ITunes, yet in the 30s on CHR - one explanation for this is that a lot of the stations currently reporting to the CHR panel are actually Rhythmic stations, and that the actual Mainstream CHR audience isn't as resistant to pop/rock as CBS and Clear Channel would make you believe they are

I'll agree with you to a point. True enough, the mainstreamers will play Neon Trees and Jason Mraz, but I don't think one or two songs at this point will make a difference. Once more rock-leaning music comes out, then the devil will be in the details.

All that is out the window now. CC has launched a New Slightly Hot AC Leaning CHR Top 40 Power 96.1. WiLD went from Leaning Top 40 to Leaning Urban in about 2 weeks time.
