When will WRNO flip?

I'm just curious what you guys think? The talent seems weak, the TV comercials mean nothing, and I can't find anyone who listens.
Are they smart enough to go FM Hispanic?
What's the "over/under" on when they'll "flip?"

What's so confusing about WRNO's TV commercials is this....they are implying that they are truly rebuilding New Orleans when they didn't go to the format until 15 months later. What irked me was Bo Walker's comments during WDSU-TV's Saints pre game coverage before the Chicago Bear playoff game stating that they're rebuilding one show at a time. I can understand Rob Couhig because he's got real-life business experience, but sometimes Bo...well, that needs no explanation.
As for Sean Hannity, he's a good host BUT some of his guests he falls in love w/o knowing how knowledgeable they really are.
An example if you please, during hurricane season he has on a guest named Joe Bastardi from Accuweather. Bastardi is truly an idiot, normally I wouldn't call somebody that in this forum but here's why. After talking to many people I know in broadcasting....Bastardi is truly the king of scare-tactics and frankly, loves to draw attention to himself, even if it means giving completely unrealistic if not impossible weather updates. For example, he actually told people on Hannity's show last year during Ernesto (I think it was) that the storm was intensifying over Lake Okechobee in south Florida (excuse the spelling), which is physically impossible! Hannity needs to wake up a little bit and do some research, give me Dr. Steve Lyons at the WEather Channel anyday!
Got no problem with Andre because frankly I do feel for her as a person, but overall I agree, Clear Channel N.O. went into WRNO maybe with good intentions but not so good results.

i listen to dave ramsey on wrno. but thats it. one of my co workers says its a horrible station. all he listens to is talk radio. wwl is killing them imo.

Do you guys think that Hispanic FM would be financially viable?

I've heard rumors that Rush will be moving to 995. If that happens, don't you think that'll change everything?

So 99.5 would be "rebuilding New Orleans" with 6 hours of syndicated programming in the middle of the day?!?
I can't listen to Rush anymore, so I would think that at this point, adding Rush to 99.5 would be like putting lipstick on a pig.

no. its not 1997 anymore.

Why flip? CC's OM cares more selling their internet sites than the on air product, even if it's bad. Sales people are jumping ship. It's like a car dealership pushing tire retreads. They're more interested in setting up their own traffic network for Baton Rouge & Lafayette, running it out of New Orleans but won't hire enough personnel. All their focus is in the wrong direction.

"Rebuilding New Orleans", they can't build themselves. The only change in the near future would be the loss of local programming in favor of syndication. It helps the bottom line. Case in point, Steve Harvey for CJ Morgan. They have no belief in anything local, in any market. And if the rating keep sinking, who's contract would get renewed, if any? Maybe put the cluster up for sell.

It sounded like a good idea at first but look at the company trying to pull it off. It would be like seeing char-brolied oysters on a Dot's Diner menu. I ain't eating it.

If they give up, it'd make a darn good signal and frequency to try and go with a mainstream CHR. EZB is too tight and shor with their playlist (one more spin of 'Glamorous' and somebody's gonna go postal in that town, and folks are wound tightly here already after Katrina), and the Diva just can't get a decent showing in the arbs.

EXACTLY!!!!! what i've been saying for months. the playlist at b97 is way too tight and imo.......its time for stevee, teapot and the pd to all take a hike. my kids listen sometimes and the station drives me nuts......it will drive anyone nuts. the stagnant, 12 song playlist with an occasional "gold" song won't cut it. there are no jingles, a lack of some kind of audio compression, and bad personalities that have consumed that station. it needs competition BADLY to make them wake up and shake things up.

as far as diva is concerned they do have a broader playlist but the signal is too weak to get on small radios in the cities. no jingles either. personalities are ok i guess. same with 104.1 except diva is not clear channel trying to force-feed us an alternative radio station that's stuck in 1994. what is 104.1 supposed to be anyway?? new rock?? i don't think so...... an occasional new nickelback and hinder aren't enough to call yourself NEW rock.

They can't flip fast enough for me. Their current talk lineup is just ok, and would be better on AM. I don't need Sean Hannity in stereo, and why tie up an FM frequency with talk, especially one with the history of WRNO. I don't miss WRNO much, given the play sets at the time of the switch, however, but I would have liked to see them upgrade and expand their selections.
