Does anyone remember up throught 1999 when WWL 870 would carry rush on tape delay 1-4 and they'd air Dr. Laura 11-1 (then she'd be moved over to 1350 for the 1-2 hour)? I'm wondering whether Dr. Laura used to be live in the afternoon at that time, and then moved to morning. Because I thought it strange late in 1999, when WWL ran promos saying Rush would be aired live soon 11-2 and Dr. Laura live 2-4 (and then 2-5 when Bob Christopher stopped doing his afternoon show). I thought it strange when David Tyree came back in 2001, they moved Dr. Laura over to 1350 and it aired 11-2 while Rush remained on 870 11-2. Did Laura suddenly start doing mornings live at this time? The reason I ask this is that if Laura does afternoons live, then why did 1350 air Bill O'Reilly on tape delay, and air previous day's edition of Dr. Laura 11-2? Were they just trying to protect old Rushie from getting a dent from losing listeners to Bill? If Laura was never live in mornings when she was on 870, then why would they air previous day of her show and then air Rush on tape delay.
Bottom line idea of my post, Bill O'Reilly should have been aired live against Rush when Bill was on 1350 if Laura has always been afternoons. Heck, I'd like to se 870 air Bill live during his 2 hours, go back to airing Rush on tape delay, and have Garland do his show 4-7. 5 hours of "sportstalk" is a waste of airtime. Other sports shows on other stations get more done in half or less than half that time in the New Orleans area. Or better yet, if they still want to do 5 hours of "sportstalk", fire Spud and replace him with Garland in the mornings 9-11, O'Reilly 11-1, Rush 1-4, and bring back Mackie Shilstone. I think he had a great show on 1350 before he lost out to O'Reilly a few years ago.
