When?

That pretty much depends on how quickly they can build out the 96.1 facility in MB and the 95.9 and 101.7 facilities in Charleston.

WKZQ MB is just changing frequencies to 96.1 and relocating the transmitter.

96.1 Charleston will be changing frequencies to 101.7 at the site originally proposed for the 96.1 upgrade. With the change in frequencies, that means a new antenna.

Don't be confused by the WKZQ/WAVF "moves." They station "moves" from market to market are moves only in the eyes of the FCC. They are frequency changes for the stations involved.

I wonder how strong the signal at 96.1 will be in Myrtle Beach for WKZQ. They won't be good in Pawleys Island now as Q 107.1 also broadcasts on 96.3 for Pawleys and south. Maybe 96.3 will be shut down not sure.

As for Chuck 96.1 their signal is good in the Pawleys Island area some miles north into Myrtle Beach. Will the new 101.7 signal for Charleston still be able to be heard?

With 96.1 Chuck FM seeing a surge in the ratings, if I were Apex, I would keep 96.1 here.

I would too. I know one place in Pawleys Island, SC that plays 96.1 Chuck FM. Prolly some other people also listen to Chuck FM too.

If they move Chuck FM to 95.9 at 25KW your still going to hear them on Pawely's Island just fine as well as many other places if they keep Chuck FM.

And they can still call it 96 Chuck FM, just take the 1 out. People wouldn't have a hard time finding it as it would just one to the left.
