Where are Imus's Defenders?

Im watching for the Russerts and Frank Rich's of the world who used to constantly appear and benefit from appearing on Imus to defend him- are they all staying quiet now that he could have used them?

Exactly! I'm with you. The only one's I know of are John MaCain and James Carvel from CNN. Imus will be back and the one's who don't come to the plate in his defense shame on them.

While politically conservative himself, Imus fed his audience a host of liberals. From politicos like Biden, Dodd and John Kerry to media types like Frank Rich and Chris Matthews. Which of him watched his back? None of them!

The most stirring defense came from ultra conservative Pat Buchanan. Pat certainly did not approve what Imus said, but he defended the man and the good he has done with his media career. While Carvel defended Imus to some extent, he did so on a network that repoeated the Imus remark nearly every 5 minutes for a week and ran it repeatedly on its news scrool (Imus only said it once-CNN repeatedly). Even the President, who Imus routinely put down, came to the I-Man's defense.

Conservatives are more than willing to come to the defense of Rush and Hannity. But liberals are quick to turn their back on you once they sense you may no longer be of use to them and their agenda. When Imus returns to the air, he needs to remember who was there for him when he needed help.

Russert today on Meet The Press said he feels "sadness in his heart for Don Imus and his wife" and sort of tried to defend Imus as being equal opportunity in his humor - refering to Bernard's cardinal bit and wondering why a african american observer found those bits funny - I just wish these people would recognize that the wonder of Imus was making them likable? By the way where are Mike Wallace or Tom Brokaw on the Imus issue?

Don Dietl (sp?) was on FOX News with Neil Cavuto. He was mad at how no one has stood up for the I-Man. He was standing up and backing him all the way. He went on at length that if he had found any thread of racist in Don Imus then he wouldn't be talking to Neil Cavuto.

Aside from Carville, Craig Crawford seems to be the only one from the liberal side of the spectrum who, while not condoning what was said, indicated that things had gone too far.

For starters Bo Dietl is a conservative, washed up ex cop who tried to be an actor after he retired from the NYPD. He's tried to make the transition from public figure to media figure like Curtis Sliwa, he's tried to defend Imus on a few shows but really who cares? who knows who Bo Dietl is or what he has done?. He is meaningless within the diolougue.

When the going gets tough, the 'beautiful people' who appeared on Imus' show got going. Anyone can be a supporter in good times, in bad times, you know who your friends and supporters really are. At least outwardly, most of Imus' guests folded on him like a cheap card table.

I hope that Imus, and crew find themselves back on radio, (How about just slightly up the dial on WOR ??) or on Sirius or XM soon.
