WTWX 95.9 in Guntersville carries Braves baseball. If you're in NE Alabama, you should have no problems hearing them.

WQSI-FM is supposed to be carrying the Braves...they moved from 94.1 to 93.9 recently, so hopefully by the time the season gets into full "swing" we'll be hearing the Braves, as well as Alabama baseball, on WQSI in central Alabama.

Fred Randall Hughey owns "South 93.9" WQSI-FM and runs the station from Tallassee. He also owns WACQ-AM 1130, also based in Tallassee.
Edited by momnpop on 04/09/06 02:40 AM.

I think Fred Randall sold the station to the guy who owns tiger 95.9
The montgomery paper said the braves would not be on wqsi..they would be put on waud in auburn... unless that's changed from last week.

I read that, too, but when I talked to Randall he indicated that the Braves would be on.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see, but today there's an angry letter to "Grandma" in the Advertiser about this very subject.

That's cool! I would believe Fred Randall over the paper any day. I have workded for a LOT of people in my life in radio. He is one of the best. He loves the business. He's a class act. He is a man of integrity.

Most of the games will be on Jox in Birmingham, after a one year hiatus.

This desparate Braves fan in Montgomery gets them on WGST in the daytime, and 550 WDUN at night. I can ignore the static. If they end up on WIQR it will be better than nothing, but WIQR sounds TERRIBLE!!!!

My hometown is too sorry to broadcast them. It has been at least three years, since I heard them on the Radio.

Last time I heard them, WMRK 1340 AM (Great South/Alexander Broadcasting) had a hard time airing them. The broadcast would experience uplink troubles and the occasional squeaky sound. Also, they didn't have many sponsers to help keep the game on.

At least, I get to see them on Turner South, TBS and Fox Sports South.

WSQI is now Eagle 93.9 in Auburn and owned by Tiger Communications. You can still hear Alabama baseball on WQSI, but the Braves are on WAUD AM 1230, WQSI's sister sports station in Auburn. The Assistant GM of Tiger explained in the Advertiser that Braves games would cut into Sports Call, which is a big franchise for Tiger, and that they might run some Sunday games on WQSI.

Re: Where the Braves only play on weekdays

Just out of morbid curiousity... Contracts with the Braves... meaning, you play all the games right?

Ran across a station in Southwest Alabama that played them during the week, however Sunday's games, just aren't there... Did the Braves stop playing on Sundays?

I was told that the station owner moved the games to his AM station...yet, his AM station is off the air.

Thats it, I'm on strike as of now... if the Braves can't play on Sundays, I won't listen to them on Tuesdays....

Just so we're clear WJDB is the station in question.

Reason why, WJDB doesn't do this, is simple. They have their entire Sunday Schedule blocked out for Black Gospel Music and Preaching.

Re: Where the Braves only play on weekdays

AM-630 WJDB has resumed broadcasting...I don't remember when they went back on, maybe a few months ago. They have Boortz and Finebaum. Whenever talk programming isn't on, it's a satellite music format. Not sure what you'd call the format...it isn't exactly pop, or rock, or classic rock, but maybe a little of all three.
