Where are these guys?! (and girls)

CHUCK RHODES ' BAAAAABY I LOOOVE IT!" Too bad him and Rob Ray never were a team on the air together;)
Jack, its good to hear from you!Steve is right, you had passion and gave a damn. "Hungr and passion" to be the best. It is a rare commodity on the air now. Infact its virtually non existent. Its CHR,AAA,HIP HOP let's talk about sex. So Imaginative. KVIL was clever and had the listener hungry for more. Its a tragedy radio has forgotten to do that.

I'd forgotten about Stubie on the radio. I used to love to listen to him as well.

Yes, Wendy at Y-95 TRULY heated up the station. Gosh, she was sooooo good looking, it wasn't even funny. I had her poster in my apartment, no doubt.

I really wonder what happened to her? I think she went to California. Don't know what happened to her after that.

Bill Evans is one of the WABC weathermen. He sometimes fills in for the weatherman on Good Morning America. If I remember correctly, he and Trey had a bet about something and if Bill lost, he was going to go barefoot skiing on Lake Carolyn in Las Colinas during February. Well he lost the bet and he did it.

I also used to love to listen to The Edge in the mornings when it first came on the air. A girl and a guy used to be the morning team. Can't remember her name, but his name was Roger, I believe. They had a beat about the Cowboys when then team wasn't doing so well. She took the Cardinals since she was from Phoenix originally. Roger took the Cowboys..............whoever won the bet, the other one was going to be the other's "coffee slave" for a week. I called in about this and told Roger if he lost, I'd help him the first morning.

Well the Cowboys lost and I came on Monday morning to help Roger out and they let me do the weather..............it was so funny. The female said, "And now, Jay Davis Weather". I read the weather report flawlessly, I must say and they made a recording of it and later sent it to me as a gift. I still have that cassette. :)

Ken Barnett (truly one of the nicest guys in the entire biz) is actually teaching at the "Connecticut" School of Broadcasting and doing the full-time/part-time thing at KLTY.
Steve E. - nice to see your name....hope all is well with you.

Obviously many of you don't know the history of KVIL so lets go back a bit. 1970: James Frances buys the station, kicks out the trade king, Bob Hannah, and brings in the Holy trinity of Ron Chapman, Jack Schell, and Hugh Lampman. Those three began the rise of KVIL from a nothing station to becoming the Dallas powerhouse under Chapman's guidance. A few years later, Frances sells the station to James Crystal Company who installs their consultant George Johns, who tailored the sound the copy his successful formats in Boston and West Palm Beach, Florida (WRMF). Keeping Chapman as P.D. Jons brings in new talent headed up by Dixon et al. Though Dixon added a great sound to PM drive, it was Chapman's celebrity name-dropping, Highland Park image that made the station trendy and "happening" really contributing to it's rocketing to number 1 in the Metroplex. This was before the rise of Urban Radio which was to displace KVIL and others like KPLX at the top of the heap. I Know cause i was there.

We were ALL there Don. I was the Blind Man In The Bleachers.

Okay, I don't get it...........

I was the blind man in the bleachers ???

Can someone please explain.

Lets face it though, Dallas radio pretty much just sucks right now.

Uh, yeah, me too. What's the punch line of the blind man in the bleachers? There were the holy trinity, Johnny Vance (Lew Vandermark), and me on the air. Bob Morrison and Ben Laurie in the newsroom, but for the life of me I can't remember a blind guy.

It's a line from an old "Wink Martindale "song "blindman in the bleachers" about a blind man who attended every baseball game of his favorite team. He could "see"with his ears. So with an attempt at deciphering Laffer's post,me thinks he is referring to himself as a dedicated listener then, and knew the entire staff by voice.

BINGO! You get a cookie Kplex ;D Didn't think it was THAT difficult to figure out. :-\

I thought the only Wink Martindale hit was "Deck Of Cards", the remake of the Tex Ritter classic. By the way Wink was on 1 vs 100 last Friday on NBC along with Bob Eubanks. Two worst dye jobs in the history of TV along with The Donald.

I think I saw Fast Eddie at Home Depot the other day. I didn't really say anything b/c I don't think he remembers me, but I am certin it was him -it even said so on his name tag.

-JS

Wow JS, I've been reading these posts for a long time and never read anything negative about Fast Eddie. I've always been told that he's the ultimate pro on and off the air. What's up with the childish comment?

Funny joke but thrown toward Fast Eddie? Sorry, JS, poor pick......
I agree, childish....

The last three posts are right on. This JS person does NOT know, (and probably has never met) Fast Eddie Coyle. I have worked with him and know many others who have too. Not only is he a great guy and an exceptional air talent with absolutely NO ego, he treats people with respect, which is something JS hasn't learned yet obviously. When I worked with Eddie, I was in a position where he didn't have to give me the time of day, but he always went out of his way to make sure that I felt like I was part of the team. I'd work with him again in a minute. Go pick on someone else JS. You have a problem. Go fix it.

Okay, I'm hard-headed. Still would like to find out what ever happened to the oh-so-hot, Wendy, from Y-95 ??? She was a knockout.

I always enjoyed listening to Fast Eddie Coyle, no matter what radio station he was on. Seemed like a really good guy.

I think she's doing Smooth Jazz at a station you will NEVER HEAR :D

That is NOT funny. Don't get my hopes up. :)

She was a knockout !!

I'm sure you're right about Wendy but give me Lisa Thomas circa 1996 (HOTTIE!)

Well do you happen to have a picture of Lisa Thomas circa 1996 ????
I'll try and find one of Wendy and we can have a contest. :)
