WHERE ARE THEY NOW

What happened to the guys who were on 97.5? Is Jim Carolla on the air anywhere? I don't hear Craig Roberts on KIOL like I used too. I've seen Mike Shiloh on CNN a few times lately, is that where he went? What about Chuck Savage.

I too was going to ask what had happened to Jim Carola. I notice that the Texans are advertising for a new PA announcer.

During the last week Pruett and Shannon were on afternoons, they mentioned that Chuck Savage was back on the road doing stand up. He must have been one of the first layoffs. Don't know why because he did many of the bumpers and intro bits, even Outlaw Dave's little into song.

Let's go into the wayback machine, shall we?

Where's Lee Jolly?
WOW...that is going back...wasn't he on KILT FM 100 when it was rock, then moved onto the morning show on 98FM KFMK when KILT flipped to country?

If memory serves me correctly, Lee did a short stint at KLOL on weekend mornings, and I vaguely remember him briefly at KLDE on nights (I could be wrong on that one). You can find him now at leejolly.net doing voice talent work. It would really be nice to hear him in the mornings on KHITS as he did a great job (in my opinion) at KILTand KFMK.

Poops

Hey Everyone,
Fletch checking in...Hope y'all are well! I'm in Seattle working for KISW as Creative Services dude. Just wanted to let everyone my whereabouts. Heard about all this shit going down in Houston. THANK GOD I GOT FIRED! ;D Atom was my boy and it's a shame what Cumulus did to him. Hang tough brother. Hit me up at [email protected] want to catch up with you. Seattle is a great city and I'm working for a pretty cool company. Can't say I really miss Houston. If you guys are ever up this way, please email me and I'll take ya guys out on the town.

My best to all,

Fletch

Hey. I liked your work.
You got fired?

That's ok, the S.S.KIOL's stern is vertical.

Isn't Kenny Miles on 107.5? His morning show in the 70's ranks as one of the best morning shows EVER in this market. That was the golden era of morning shows:

Miles in the Morning (KRBE)
Original Hudson & Harrigan (Steven's & Pruitt on KLOL or KILT)
Moby (96.5, forget the call letters, maybe KAUM)
Q-Zoo on 93.7 (Landers & Crew in the 80's)

I'd listen if KRBE brought Kenny back to the morning, but he probably has the smarts to stay away from Cumulus. That is going to get ugly down the road.

The original Hudson & Harrigan was Paul Menard and Hudson Roach in the 1960s. Mark and Jim came along later.
They went to 790KULF and became Stevens and Pruitt, before leaving for Dallas.
The Q morning Zoo was on 92.9.
Moby was on KSRR. It was KAUM before he got there. The late Joe Sasso was doing mornings back then. Before Joe was Weaver Morrow

It's amazing how memory goes with age. After you corrected me Chuck, it feels like those shows were on yesterday. As for Dayna Steele, I hope she returns to the air in some capacity soon. She was very good on BizRadio for the short time she was there. Some talker needs to pick her up. She's in the talk zone now and she's excellent.

Dayna was a delight to work with. We had a good time at KKTL. Within the first week of producing her show, she had baked chocolate brownies for me in the shape of breasts. She knew what I liked. It was at KKTL, I met Steve Allen, who had ben in town for a performance at the Alley. I can't tell you what a thrill it was to have a conversation with one of the greats in this business. We talked about his days as the 1st host of NBC's Tonight Show among other accomplishments. What a gentleman.

Dayna's show was an entertainment show. Too bad we were on an inferior signal. We all knew that we couldn't cover Houston effectively enough to make an impact. 97.1 should have been an indicator for 97.5, before Cumulus embarked on its news/talk journey.
