Where are they now ?????

BTW everyone, I just received a press release that Doug "Greaseman" Tracht and Tom Birch will be inducted this weekend into a new Binghamton Broadcasters' Hall Of Fame.

They'll be in such august company as Rod Serling in the first induction ceremony. Congrats, Dougie and Tom!

(Note I did NOT say "will join Rod Serling" since, as we all know, Rod is a tad on the dead side these days.)

[Yesterday, Micheal Savage was making fun of Ted Kennedy. It's hard to believe people listen to this crap, but again, it's a free country.

When I heard Sen. Kennedy had a brain tumor I was afraid the idiots would start making fun of him. For all of our wanting to be P-C there are still a surprising number of really cruel and crude people out there. I'm glad I didn't hear it. Republician or Democrat it's not good to make fun of anyone in this situation.

"So has anyone heard from Bill Ardis?"

I was wondering that myself...so a Google search turned up a blog he does called "Spirit Calling" at spiritcalling.blog-city.com where he records his views and what he's doing. He lists himself as a retired technical writer living out in California. The blog's short on details of personal life other than his views on the day's events, but it looks like he's alive and well and coasting out on the West Coast...

Re: Where are they now ????? One more thing...

It may have been mentioned elsewhere on this site, but since Doug "Greaseman" Tracht's name came up in this thread earlier, just this month he got a new day-job that marks his return to a city where he's been a major player previously. He's joined the Cox cluster's Rock 105 in Jacksonville, Florida as weekday afternoon personality.

Don't know if he'll keep doing the DC-101 weekend gig as well (he could certainly send it up to Washington by FTP or ISDN). But since Cox has a lot of outposts nationwide, this could even end up as a new platform for Grease's return to multi-market daily syndication. A lot of people remember him fondly, and given his frequent and apparently sincere mea-culpas over his past on-air mistakes, it looks like the radio business is ready to forgive him. He's getting a real second chance, because he's a major talent in a business that needs them.

I think I read, probably on DCRTV, that it's the opposite...he's still in his own suburban Washington studio doing the Jacksonville afternoon drive show via ISDN or whatever.

And I do believe he kept the DC101 weekend show.

You bring up an interesting point, though...I wonder if this is anything for Cox aside from bringing back a legendary market name in J-ville.

What timing on this...DCRTV says Grease's DC101 Saturday show is done. They're kicking up the music and kicking down the personalities.

I believe he's still physically in suburban DC, and doing the Jacksonville show from there.
