Where are they now?

Does anyone know if Jerry G is on any radio station now?

There is no San Diego radio station that would have place for a Jerry G Bishop or any other old school personality.

I worked with Jerry G in 1979 at KCBQ: he later did a TV morning show (which ended in 1990), but for most of the last thirty+ years he made his living from two restaurants at San Diego's Seaport Village. It's been several years since I saw him but he had some health issue and I recall that caused him to drastically cut back on his day-to-day work at the restaurants and his daughter runs the operation.

I thought he might be on some AM station that plays oldies. They still have KIXI, KEZW, KZQZ and others. I am sorry to hear about his health problems. I've been to both of his places at Seaport Village and I don't see him anymore like I used to. He always did his Sunday show on am 1690 Chicago from San Diego. I would like to hear Rick Martell And Ernie Myers again on some AM Station somewhere in the country. I haven't heard any bad news about them so they should still be around. KCBQ should be like KZQZ or KIXI it wouldn't hurt them at all, IMO it would help KCBQ. Also KIXI and KEZW is not doing bad at all compared to KCBQ. I would like to hear David Eduardo's opinion on this. Does KCBQ have more advertisers now than playing oldies with old school announcers in the near future?

Salem doesn't always do what you would expect in the marketplace. They're as mission-driven as money-driven. They'll lose money on a political talk format because they want that viewpoint out there and subsidize it with brokered religion programming if they have to.

That's not to say that they do this everywhere; they do oldies in Hawaii and Spanish in Seattle among others. But their political talk product is kind of like a right wing Air America with deeper pockets. The news and traffic updates may be a week old, but their slate of talk shows will run nationwide no matter what.
