Where did The Gong Show air in Houston?

The recent passing of Gene Gene the Dancing Machine struck my interest in The Gong Show (Hadn't thought of that show in a good while) and got me wondering. I remember watching it but I feel like I remember seeing it at night. Wikipedia says it was a daytime show on NBC. The syndicated version ran on other outlets at different times of the day. I feel like I saw this in prime time on KTRK, leading me to believe this was an ABC show (surprised to find that out. I was about 7 or 8 when it was on, too young to know anything). Anyone know what channel it aired here in Houston and what time?

Originally ran on KPRC in the late 70s, djrage. It was a part of several games shows that were aired on KPRC mornings. When Gong went syndicated, it was shown by KHTV-39, and I guarantee you it aired at 6-6:30, because it aired at the same as Three's Company on KRIV, forcing me to flip back and forth between the two. Before it was all said and done, KTHT launched from Alvin on Ch. 67 (we're now to about '87) where it aired during 67's original independent incarnation, at 8:00pm, directly after the Joker's Wild/Tic Tac Dough block at 7.

Geez, I remember such randomness from 30 years ago, but couldn't tell you what I had for dinner two nights ago. Go figure....

Anyway, hope that helps.

I remember it being an NBC show, running on the network in the afternoons. Whenever there was a transmitter problem at WCWB ("We Can't, We're broke"), the Chief Engineer would say, "Keep it on the air until The Gong Show. Then, we'll take the transmitter down and fix things while nobody is watching".
